The TISI for March 2025 stands at 91.8, decreasing from 93.4 in February 2025, while the 3-month forward expectation index also declined to 95.7 from 97.6.
When considering the components of the Thai Industries Sentiment Index in March 2025, it is observed that most components have decreased except for operational costs (inversely related), which have increased. Meanwhile, for the 3-month forward expectation index, most components have also decreased, except for orders from abroad, sales from abroad, and operational costs (inversely related) that have decreased.
This month presents positive factors from 1) Stimulus measures for the real estate sector, such as the easing of housing loan supervision criteria (LTV criteria), benefiting the construction materials cluster. 2) The Fuel Oil Fund Committee (GPA) decided to reduce the contribution rate to the fuel oil fund. 3) The organization of the Motor Show (March 26 – April 6, 2025) is expected to boost sales for the domestic automotive industry.
However, there are still negative factors from 1) Earthquake events and aftershocks affecting tourist confidence and leading to a slowdown in domestic economic activities. 2) The 25% increase in import tariffs on steel and aluminum products by the United States. 3) The tourism sector is likely to slow down due to safety concerns and the onset of the fasting period. 4) Exports of automobiles have decreased due to the postponement of orders from trading partners awaiting clarity on the U.S. import tariff policies. 5) Purchasing power in the region remains fragile due to the downward trend in agricultural commodity prices, particularly rice, sugarcane, and cassava, affecting regional spending.
