The survey results of the Thai Industries Sentiment Index (TISI) for July 2024 stand at 89.3, an increase from 87.2 in June 2024, marking the first rise in four months. This improvement is attributed to the increase in domestic demand for consumer goods, particularly in the food and pharmaceutical industries and cosmetics. Meanwhile, the acceleration of budget disbursement and government spending has resulted in increased funds entering the economic system, positively impacting industrial products, especially construction materials. At the same time, applications for investment promotion continued to expand, with total investment value in the first six months (January – June 2024) amounting to 458,359 million Baht, an increase of 35 percent compared to the same period last year. Furthermore, there is support from the growth of the tourism sector, a result of the free visa measures for foreign tourists and government initiatives to promote domestic travel during the low season.

However, in July, there are still negative factors stemming from high household debt and non-performing loans (NPL), which continue to pressure domestic consumption. This is evident from the sales of automobiles in the country and the export volume of automobiles in the first six months (January – June 2024), which contracted by 24.16 percent and 1.85 percent, respectively, compared to the same period last year. Meanwhile, the real estate sector has slowed down due to weak domestic purchasing power. Concurrently, exports are also decelerating, particularly in durable goods such as air conditioning units and refrigeration, jewelry and ornaments, and electronic goods. Additionally, transportation costs have risen significantly, including shipping rates and various additional charges (Surcharge).
