This positive shift is supported by the growth of domestic demand, reflected in an acceleration of orders and sales from the previous month, particularly consumer goods to facilitate spending during the Chinese New Year festival. Additionally, the benefits of the Easy E-receipt measure, effective from January 1 to February 15, 2024, have spurred domestic expenditure.

However, there are negative factors stemming from the increase in the minimum wage and high lending interest rates, which have resulted in rising operational costs, particularly for SMEs. Financial institutions have become stricter in approving loans due to concerns regarding household debt. Furthermore, importers and exporters face increased shipping costs, stemming from rising freight rates, fees, and insurance due to incidents involving attacks on cargo vessels in the Suez Canal and the Red Sea. Transport times for goods between Asia and Europe have also lengthened as routes are diverted around the Cape of Good Hope.
