This strategy aims to attract investments exceeding 500 billion baht by 2030 and over 2.5 trillion baht by 2050, building on the existing electronics industry base to meet the demand from AI, Data Centers, and electric vehicles. It focuses on developing three target industry groups: Photonics, Power Electronics, and Sensors.
FTI proposed a framework to promote the Power Electronics industry by gathering demand for Power IC from Data Centers, Smart Grids, appliances, air conditioning, and vehicles to create a market that supports chip production domestically while connecting Thai operators with foreign investors. Additionally, it proposed to take the opportunity of the visit to Japan in November 2026 to attract investments in GaN (Gallium Nitride) technology. At the same time, the meeting emphasized the acceleration of workforce development, solutions for electrical system stability, and the role of the government in creating domestic demand for chips.
Moreover, the meeting approved the National Strategy for the Development of the Semiconductor and Advanced Electronics Industry as a framework for long-term industrial advancement and proceeded with the Siam Silica project to develop a skilled workforce for the industry. It emphasized the urgent preparation of an Action Plan that clearly specifies objectives and responsible agencies. FTI is ready to collaborate with all sectors to drive the Thai semiconductor industry towards sustainable growth.
