เมื่อวันที่ 8 ตุลาคม 2569 นายเวทิต โชควัฒนา รองประธานอาวุโสสภาอุตสาหกรรมแห่งประเทศไทย (ส.อ.ท.) และประธานสายงานอาเซียนและโลจิสติกส์ ในฐานะประธานสภาธุรกิจ GMS ประเทศไทย พร้อมด้วยนายปณิธาน ปวโรฬารวิทยา เลขาธิการ ส.อ.ท. นายกริช อึ้งวิฑูรสถิตย์ รองประธานสายงานอาเซียนและโลจิสติกส์ และประธานคณะอนุกรรมการส่งเสริมธุรกิจภูมิภาคอาเซียน นายธนวัฒน์ จิตบรรเทิงพันธ์ กรรมการและผู้ช่วยเลขานุการ สายงานอาเซียนและโลจิสติกส์ ดร. สวนิตย์ บุญญาสุวัฒน์ รองประธานสถาบันน้ำ สิ่งแวดล้อม และ Climate Change นายนาคาญ์ ทวิชาวัฒน์ รองประธานคณะอนุกรรมการส่งเสริมธุรกิจภูมิภาคอาเซียน และ ดร. ธัญลักษณ์ ธนปกิจ ผู้อำนวยการฝ่ายกิจการต่างประเทศ ส.อ.ท. เข้าร่วมการประชุมคณะกรรมการบริหารสภาธุรกิจอนุภูมิภาคลุ่มแม่น้ำโขง ครั้งที่ 2 ประจำปี 2569 (2nd Board of Directors’ Meeting of GMS Business Council 2026) ผ่านระบบการประชุมทางไกล โดยมีผู้แทนระดับสูงจากภาคเอกชนประเทศสมาชิก GMS ทั้งเวียดนาม สปป.ลาว เมียนมา และจีน รวมถึงธนาคารพัฒนาเอเชีย (Asian Development Bank : ADB) และสถาบันความร่วมมือเพื่อพัฒนาเศรษฐกิจลุ่มแม่น้ำโขง (Mekong Institute : MI) เข้าร่วมประชุม
การประชุมฯ ครั้งนี้ ได้มีการแจ้งการเปลี่ยนแปลงผู้แทนตำแหน่งสำคัญของสภาธุรกิจ GMS ประเทศไทย โดยนายเวทิต ได้เข้ามารับตำแหน่งประธานสภาธุรกิจ GMS ประเทศไทย พร้อมทั้งมีการแนะนำนายอมรเทพ ทวีพาณิชย์ รักษาการผู้อำนวยการสำนักงาน กกร. เป็นเลขาธิการสภาธุรกิจ GMS เพื่อเสริมสร้างความแข็งแกร่งในการบริหารงานและขับเคลื่อนภารกิจของสภาธุรกิจฯ ให้บรรลุเป้าหมายยุทธศาสตร์เศรษฐกิจร่วมกัน
ที่ประชุมได้ร่วมกันพิจารณาระเบียบวาระสำคัญ รวมถึงการเตรียมความพร้อมสำหรับการประชุมระดับรัฐมนตรี GMS ครั้งที่ 28 (28th GMS Ministerial Conference) ซึ่งจะจัดขึ้นระหว่างวันที่ 30 พฤศจิกายน - ธันวาคม 2569 ณ กรุงฮานอย ประเทศเวียดนาม พร้อมทั้งติดตามความคืบหน้าการจัดงาน GMS Business Forum 2026 และข้อเสนอแนะจากสถาบันความร่วมมือเพื่อพัฒนาเศรษฐกิจลุ่มแม่น้ำโขง (MI)
นอกจากนี้ ที่ประชุมยังได้ให้ความสำคัญกับการจัดตั้งเครือข่ายผู้ประกอบการรุ่นใหม่แห่งอนุภูมิภาคลุ่มแม่น้ำโขง (GMS Young Entrepreneurs Network : GMS YEN) ตามข้อเสนอของประเทศเมียนมา เพื่อเชื่อมโยงนักธุรกิจรุ่นใหม่จากประเทศสมาชิก สร้างเครือข่ายพันธมิตร แลกเปลี่ยนองค์ความรู้ และเพิ่มโอกาสในการพัฒนาความร่วมมือทางธุรกิจข้ามพรมแดน
การขับเคลื่อนความร่วมมือผ่านสภาธุรกิจ GMS จึงเป็นอีกกลไกสำคัญในการเชื่อมโยงภาคเอกชนกับเวทีความร่วมมือระดับภูมิภาค พร้อมต่อยอดเครือข่ายธุรกิจให้เกิดโอกาสทางการค้าและการลงทุนที่เป็นรูปธรรม และเตรียมผู้ประกอบการไทยให้พร้อมใช้ประโยชน์จากความเชื่อมโยงทางเศรษฐกิจในอนุภูมิภาคลุ่มแม่น้ำโขง

On October 8, 2026, Mr. Vathit Chokwatana, Senior Vice Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) and Chairman, ASEAN and Logistics, as the Chairman of the GMS Business Council of Thailand, together with Mr. Panitarn Pavarolavidya, Secretary-General of FTI, Mr. Krit Ungwitoonstit, Vice Chairman, ASEAN and Logistics and Chairman of the ASEAN Regional Business Promotion Subcommittee, Mr. Thanawat Jitbunthangpan, Committee Member and Assistant Secretary of the ASEAN and Logistics Division, Dr. Suwanit Boonyasuwat, Vice Chairman of the Institute of Water, Environment, and Climate Change, Mr. Nakah Thawichawatt, Vice Chairman of the ASEAN Regional Business Promotion Subcommittee, and Dr. Thanyalak Thanapakij, Director of International Affairs Division of FTI attended the 2nd Board of Directors’ Meeting of GMS Business Council 2026 via a remote meeting system. High-level representatives from the private sectors of GMS member countries including Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, and China, as well as representatives from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Mekong Institute (MI), participated in the meeting.
During this meeting, changes in the key representatives of the GMS Business Council of Thailand were announced, with Mr. Vathit taking on the role of Chairman of the GMS Business Council of Thailand. Furthermore, Mr. Amorntep Thaveepanich was introduced as the Acting Secretary-General of the GMS Business Council to enhance the management strength and drive the council's mission towards achieving strategic economic goals.
The meeting jointly considered important agendas, including preparations for the 28th GMS Ministerial Conference, which will be held from November 30 to December 1, 2026, in Hanoi, Vietnam. The progress of organizing the GMS Business Forum 2026 and suggestions from the Mekong Institute (MI) were also discussed.
Additionally, the meeting emphasized the establishment of the GMS Young Entrepreneurs Network (GMS YEN) following Myanmar's proposal, to connect young entrepreneurs from member countries, create a network of partners, exchange knowledge, and enhance opportunities for cross-border business cooperation.
The advancement of cooperation through the GMS Business Council is therefore an important mechanism for connecting the private sector with regional cooperation platforms, while expanding business networks to create tangible trade and investment opportunities and preparing Thai entrepreneurs to take advantage of the economic connectivity in the Greater Mekong Subregion.
