BGRIM indicates IMF-World Bank opens investment doors for Thailand urges government to accelerate further development to drive AI-Clean Energy towards future economy. BGRIM's CEO views Thailand as having an important opportunity from the IMF-World Bank platform to create global awareness, opening the way for attracting new investment, particularly in AI and Green Energy, emphasizing that the private sector is ready to drive, but the government must expedite policy, infrastructure development, and financial systems to facilitate investment. KEY POINTS - BGRIM's CEO views Thailand as having an important opportunity from the IMF-World Bank platform.
Creating global awareness - Opening the way for attracting new investment, particularly in AI and Green Energy, emphasizing that the private sector is ready to drive - but the government must expedite policy, infrastructure development, and financial systems to facilitate investment. Mr. Nopadej Karnasuta, CEO of B.GRIM Power Public Company Limited, or BGRIM, revealed to "Post Today" that the annual meeting of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, hosted by Thailand from
October 12-18, 2026, is a crucial opportunity to build confidence and enhance Thailand's visibility in the eyes of the global community. This platform not only reflects Thailand's potential to host international events but also serves as an opportunity for advancing cooperation in economic and investment sectors across future industries, especially in the digital economy, artificial intelligence (AI), clean energy, and necessary infrastructure for long-term growth. "What we gain from this event is to elevate Thailand's position on the world's radar
in terms of AI, clean energy, and future infrastructure. The private sector is ready to invest and drive business, but the key challenge is that the country's policies and financial structure must support making these investments a reality." Accelerating momentum to attract investment, Mr. Nopadej stated that building confidence from a global platform will be more meaningful if Thailand can transform the opportunities that arise into actual investments, both from foreign investors and international cooperation.
This will enhance competitive potential and create a new growth base for Thailand's economy, particularly in the AI and clean energy sectors, which require capital, technology, efficient energy systems, and infrastructure that supports business expansion. Preparing the country must therefore be undertaken systematically to ensure Thailand can attract investment and create long-term economic value. Moreover, cooperation between the government and private sectors, as well as linking with international partners
will be another crucial factor in driving new investment projects and providing opportunities for Thailand to take a larger role in the global economic chain. "It is fortunate for Thailand to have significant platforms continuously, from previous international meetings to this IMF-World Bank event. What needs to be done next is to build cooperation between the government and the private sector to maintain confidence and attract investment into the country."
4 Key Pillars: Government-Private Sector Move Together. Regarding the opportunities for advancement following the meeting, Mr. Nopadej praised the government for driving the idea of reinventing Thailand, or Reinvent Thailand, with Mr. Aekniti Nitithanprapas as one of the key promoters, alongside the private sector through the Joint Public-Private Sector Committee of 3 Institutions (JCC), comprising the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), the Thai Chamber of Commerce, and the Thai Bankers' Association. This collaboration reflects the necessity of jointly determining the direction for national development, with the private sector having approaches and readiness to drive business.
However, transitioning plans into tangible outcomes requires essential components to advance together, including - A ready infrastructure to support investment in new industries, digital technology, and clean energy - Sufficient resources managed effectively to accommodate economic expansion and future investment demands - Clear and continuous policies to help businesses assess risks and plan long-term investments - A stable financial system supportive of investment.
Supporting fundraising and developing necessary projects for the economy, Mr. Nopadej emphasized that driving the country forward requires cooperation from all parties, akin to a football team where every party must share the same goals and work in coordination. It cannot be a case of everyone doing their own thing because even if the private sector is ready, a lack of clear policies or appropriate infrastructure may hinder investment opportunities from reaching their full potential. Real investment acceleration for Thailand is the key challenge following the meeting.
with the IMF-World Bank, is therefore maintaining momentum and converting the interest of foreign investors into actual investment funds, demonstrating the country's readiness in tangible aspects, including policy, infrastructure, energy, technology, and financial systems. If the government and private sector can collaborate continuously, the opportunities from this global platform will not be limited to just the positive image of Thailand but can lead to the creation of new industries, enhance competitive capabilities.
and lay the foundation for a sustainable digital economy in the long term. From BGRIM's perspective, promoting clean energy alongside the development of technology and infrastructure is thus part of the major issues that Thailand must urgently advance in order to be ready for future investments and to create sustainable economic growth.
