Today, October 5, 2026, the Global Markets Group of Krungsri Bank Public Company Limited analyzes the direction of the Baht this week, indicating that the Baht is expected to move within the range of 33.30-33.85 Baht/USD. In comparison to the previous week, the Baht closed weaker at 33.55 Baht/USD after trading within the range of 33.45-33.71 Baht/USD. The Baht reached its weakest level in two months, while the US Dollar strengthened against all major currencies, with the Dollar Index hitting its highest level since May 2025.
Meanwhile, the yield on US Treasury bonds has reached a new cycle high, although the weaker-than-expected PCE inflation data has helped reduce expectations for an interest rate hike in October. The ISM manufacturing index declined in September, but price components increased, indicating that inflationary pressures in the production chain remain high. The Euro has hit its weakest level in 17 months, while the yield spread between French and German bonds has widened significantly.
This indicates that the details of the French budget announced to Parliament have not been well received by the market, while Japanese investors continue to reduce their holdings in French bonds. In this regard, foreign investors sold Thai stocks and bonds worth 26.769 billion Baht and 10.068 billion Baht, respectively. For the overall market outlook this week, Krungsri Global Markets believes that the market will focus on the ISM services index and the Federal Reserve's minutes, as well as comments from several Fed officials.
After worse-than-expected non-farm employment data, investors perceive that the Fed may decide to maintain interest rates this month. Meanwhile, selling pressure in the global bond market is beginning to cause greater volatility in exchange rates, affecting risk assets and supporting the Swiss Franc, which is seen as a safe haven. The Euro may face continued selling pressure, while the US may ban diesel exports, with Europe importing about 32% of its diesel from the US.
Furthermore, the rapidly widening yield spread between French and German bonds has led the market to reassess expectations for the European Central Bank (ECB)'s interest rate path, with risks that the ECB may take additional measures to support the bond market if tensions escalate. Domestically, the market will monitor September inflation, while the Bank of Thailand reported a surplus in the current account of 2.4 billion USD in August, highlighting several key issues to watch.
These include the technology and AI cycle, war and trade policies, government measures, impacts from flooding and El Niño, as well as the recovery of the tourism sector. Read the news:
