On 14 September 2024 Mr. Kriangkrai Thiennukul Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) convened an urgent meeting to assist members affected by flooding with representatives from industrial groups the Industrial Promotion and Support Sector and the Provincial Industrial Support Council participating in the meeting with over67 attendees

The main objective of this meeting is to gather immediate assistance strategies for members affected by the flooding through recovery,remediation and prevention to enable members to return to business as soon as possible, with preliminary guidelines as follows

1. Recovery

1.1 Accelerate communication of information and knowledge on recovery such as instructional videos on machinery repairs and electrical appliances

1.2 Provide online services for recovery and remediation in each area with members by providing direct consultations for each company (member clinic)

1.3 Develop a Package of products and services for members from various industrial groups systematically, including automotive, electrical, air conditioning, construction materials, machinery and agriculture machinery clusters

1.4 Coordinate with vocational students in the surrounding areas to assist with repairing electrical appliances and machinery in factories

1.5 Manage waste after the flood recedes, including industrial waste and recyclable waste

1.6 Coordinate with the metrology team to assess and inspect various tools and standards

2. Remediation

2.1 Advocate for the exemption of various fees related to business operations with relevant government agencies

2.2 Coordinate with financial institutions to secure loans at special interest rates for recovery

2.3 Reach out to insurance companies for facilitation for expedited services and solutions for affected individuals

3. Prevention

3.1 Monitor water conditions closely and communicate with members to prepare for and find prevention strategies

In this regard, assistance will be provided to members on a company basis by collaborating with the Provincial Industrial Promotion and Support Council and the Chiang Rai Provincial Industrial Council to serve as intermediaries to match distressed members with industrial groups to ensure assistance meets their specific needs

Moreover, Mr. Kriangkrai emphasized the current situation and extends support to the Provincial Industrial Councils affected and is ready to provide full support by leveraging cooperation from various agencies under the FTI structure to ensure members can resume operations promptly
