เมื่อวันที่ 10 มิถุนายน 2568 นายวิเชาวน์ รักพงษ์ไพโรจน์ รองประธานสภาอุตสาหกรรมแห่งประเทศไทย (ส.อ.ท.) ได้เข้าร่วมแสดงความยินดีกับ H.E. Mr. Luiz de Albuquerque Veloso (นายลูวิช เดอ อัลบูแกร์ก วือโลซู) เอกอัครราชทูตสาธารณรัฐโปรตุเกส ประจำประเทศไทย เนื่องในโอกาสวันชาติโปรตุเกส ณ สถานเอกอัครราชทูตโปรตุเกส
ความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างประเทศไทยและโปรตุเกสมีความแน่นแฟ้นและยืนยาวกว่า 500 ปี โดยโปรตุเกสเป็นชาติแรกจากยุโรปที่สถาปนาความสัมพันธ์กับอาณาจักรสยามตั้งแต่สมัยกรุงศรีอยุธยา และได้ลงนามในสนธิสัญญาทางไมตรีและการพาณิชย์อย่างเป็นทางการกับไทยเมื่อปี 2392
ทั้งนี้ นายลูวิช เดอ อัลบูแกร์ก วือโลซู เน้นย้ำถึงความสำคัญของรากฐานทางประวัติศาสตร์นี้ พร้อมแสดงเจตนารมณ์ในการสานต่อและขยายความร่วมมือในหลากหลายด้าน ทั้งการค้า การลงทุน การศึกษา วัฒนธรรม การท่องเที่ยว และการแลกเปลี่ยนคณะผู้แทนภาคธุรกิจ เพื่อส่งเสริมความร่วมมือทางเศรษฐกิจอย่างต่อเนื่องในอนาคต
On June 10, 2025, Mr. Wichao Rakphongpairot, Vice Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), participated in congratulating H.E. Mr. Luiz de Albuquerque Veloso, Ambassador of the Portuguese Republic to Thailand, on the occasion of Portugal's National Day at the Embassy of Portugal.
The relationship between Thailand and Portugal has been strong and enduring for over 500 years, with Portugal being the first nation from Europe to establish relations with the Kingdom of Siam since the Ayutthaya period. An official Treaty of Friendship and Commerce was signed with Thailand in 1849.
Furthermore, Mr. Luiz de Albuquerque Veloso emphasized the importance of this historical foundation and expressed a commitment to continue and expand cooperation in various areas, including trade, investment, education, culture, tourism, and the exchange of business delegations, to promote ongoing economic cooperation in the future.
