ความสัมพันธ์ทางการทูตระหว่างไทยและเยอรมนีเริ่มต้นขึ้นอย่างเป็นทางการตั้งแต่ปี พ.ศ. 2405 และพัฒนาอย่างต่อเนื่องมากว่า 160 ปี ครอบคลุมความร่วมมือในหลายมิติ ทั้งด้านการเมือง เศรษฐกิจ การค้าและการลงทุน การศึกษา วิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี วัฒนธรรม ตลอดจนความสัมพันธ์ระดับประชาชน
ในด้านเศรษฐกิจ เยอรมนีถือเป็นหนึ่งในหุ้นส่วนทางเศรษฐกิจที่สำคัญของไทยในยุโรป และเป็นคู่ค้ารายใหญ่ที่สุดของไทยในกลุ่มประเทศสมาชิกสหภาพยุโรป โดยในปี 2568 มูลค่าการค้าระหว่างไทยและเยอรมนีอยู่ที่ประมาณ 11.6 พันล้านดอลลาร์สหรัฐ สินค้าสำคัญครอบคลุมเครื่องคอมพิวเตอร์และส่วนประกอบ แผงวงจรไฟฟ้า เครื่องจักรกล ผลิตภัณฑ์ยาง อัญมณีและเครื่องประดับ ตลอดจนผลิตภัณฑ์เวชกรรม เคมีภัณฑ์ และเครื่องมือทางวิทยาศาสตร์และการแพทย์ สะท้อนความเชื่อมโยงของไทยในห่วงโซ่อุปทานอุตสาหกรรมและอิเล็กทรอนิกส์ ควบคู่กับจุดแข็งของเยอรมนีด้านเทคโนโลยี วิศวกรรม และนวัตกรรมขั้นสูง
นอกจากนี้ บริษัทเยอรมันยังมีบทบาทสำคัญต่อการพัฒนาอุตสาหกรรมไทยมาอย่างยาวนาน ผ่านการลงทุน การถ่ายทอดเทคโนโลยี และการเชื่อมโยงกับห่วงโซ่อุปทานของไทยในหลายสาขาอุตสาหกรรม
บนพื้นฐานของความสัมพันธ์ทางเศรษฐกิจที่เข้มแข็ง ไทยและเยอรมนีสามารถต่อยอดความร่วมมือไปสู่สาขาอุตสาหกรรมแห่งอนาคตที่สอดคล้องกับการเปลี่ยนแปลงของเศรษฐกิจโลกมากขึ้น เช่น อุตสาหกรรมเทคโนโลยีขั้นสูงและระบบอัตโนมัติ เทคโนโลยีดิจิทัลและนวัตกรรม พลังงานสะอาดและการเปลี่ยนผ่านสีเขียว ตลอดจนการศึกษาและการพัฒนาทักษะแรงงาน เพื่อเพิ่มขีดความสามารถในการแข่งขันและรองรับการเปลี่ยนผ่านของภาคอุตสาหกรรมในอนาคต
Diplomatic relations between Thailand and Germany have officially commenced since 1862 and have continually developed for over 160 years, covering cooperation in various dimensions, including politics, economy, trade and investment, education, science and technology, culture, as well as people-to-people relations.
In terms of the economy, Germany is one of Thailand's important economic partners in Europe and the largest trading partner among EU member countries. In 2025, the trade value between Thailand and Germany was approximately 11.6 billion USD, with key products including computers and components, electrical circuit boards, machinery, rubber products, gemstones and jewelry, as well as pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and scientific and medical instruments. This reflects Thailand's integration into the industrial and electronics supply chains alongside Germany's strengths in technology, engineering, and advanced innovation.
Additionally, German companies have played a significant role in the development of Thailand's industrial sector for a long time through investment, technology transfer, and linking with Thailand's supply chains across various industries.
Based on a strong economic relationship, Thailand and Germany can expand cooperation into future industries that align with the changes in the global economy, such as advanced technology and automation, digital technology and innovation, clean energy and the green transition, as well as education and workforce development, to enhance competitiveness and support the future transition of the industrial sector.
