Thailand and the Republic of Turkey established diplomatic relations officially in 1958 and have closely and continuously cooperated in various dimensions, including politics, economics, trade, investment, and culture. In the economic and trade sectors, the total trade value between Thailand and Turkey reached 1,717.9 million U.S. dollars in 2025 and is expected to continue expanding in the future. Moreover, both sides are keen to push forward negotiations on the Thailand–Türkiye Free Trade Agreement (FTA) to promote trade and investment, reduce trade barriers, and increase opportunities for entrepreneurs from both countries.
Additionally, both countries have the potential to expand cooperation in the industry sector, particularly in the defense industry, where Turkey has significant advancements in innovation, technology, and production capacity development. This presents an opportunity for knowledge exchange and fostering industrial cooperation that yields mutual benefits.
Currently, Thailand and Turkey are in the process of promoting their relationship toward becoming a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership by 2028. This will be a crucial mechanism for strengthening cooperation across all dimensions, both at the government and private sectors level, as well as supporting the connectivity of the economic, trade, and industrial potential of both countries to create business opportunities and drive sustainable growth together.
