เมื่อวันที่ 29 พฤษภาคม 2567 นายเกรียงไกร เธียรนุกุล ประธานสภาอุตสาหกรรมแห่งประเทศไทย (ส.อ.ท.) เข้าร่วมกล่าวความร่วมมือและกล่าวเปิดงานสัมมนา “Trade and Investment Opportunities in the Agriculture Sector in African Countries” ซึ่งจัดโดยสถานเอกอัครราชทูตกลุ่มประเทศแอฟริกาประจำประเทศไทย ร่วมกับสภาธุรกิจไทย-แอฟริกาใต้ และ South African–Thai Chamber of Commerce (SATCC) โดยได้รับเกียรติจากนายลินด์ซีย์ คิมโวเล คิปทิเนสส์ เอกอัครราชทูต สาธารณรัฐเคนยาประจำประเทศไทย และคณบดีคณะเอกอัครราชทูตแอฟริกาประจำประเทศไทย กล่าวเปิดงาน พร้อมด้วย เอกอัครราชทูตแอฟริกาประจำประเทศไทย 5 ประเทศ นายลินด์ซีย์ คิมโวเล คิปทิเนสส์ เอกอัครราชทูตสาธารณรัฐเคนยาประจำประเทศไทยและคณบดีคณะเอกอัครราชทูตแอฟริกาประจำประเทศไทย นายอับดุรเราะฮีม เราะห์ฮาลี เอกอัครราชทูตราชอาณาจักรโมร็อกโกประจำประเทศไทย นายดาร์คีย์ อีเฟรอิม แอฟริกา เอกอัครราชทูตสาธารณรัฐแอฟริกาใต้ประจำประเทศไทย นางฮาละฮ์ ยูซุฟ อะห์มัด เราะญับ เอกอัครราชทูตสาธารณรัฐอาหรับอียิปต์ประจำประเทศไทย นายมูฮัมเมด ไอดิด ไฮดรา อุปทูตฯ สถานเอกอัครราชทูตสหพันธ์สาธารณรัฐไนจีเรียประจำประเทศไทย โดยมีผู้ที่สนใจเข้าร่วมงานกว่า 100 ราย ณ โรงแรมบางกอกมิดทาวน์ ถนนพระราม 6
ภายในงาน นายดาร์คีย์ แอฟริกา (His Excellency Mr.Darkey Africa) เอกอัครราชทูตสาธารณรัฐแอฟริกาใต้ประจำประเทศไทย ได้กล่าวบรรยายสรุปถึงโอกาสและศักยภาพของภูมิภาคแอฟริกา ซึ่งเป็นตลาดที่กำลังเติบโต มีกำลังซื้อจากชนชั้นกลางเพิ่มขึ้น และได้มีการเร่งพัฒนาโครงสร้างพื้นฐานขนาดใหญ่จำนวนมาก โดยแอฟริกาเป็นประเทศที่อุดมไปด้วยทรัพยากรทางธรรมชาติ เช่น น้ำมันปิโตรเลียม ก๊าซปิโตรเลียม เป็นต้น โดยสินค้าและธุรกิจไทยที่เป็นที่ต้องการในตลาด เช่น สินค้าเกษตร สิ่งทอ อาหารกระป๋อง และน้ำตาลทราย โดยปัจจุบัน ไทยส่งออกสินค้าชิ้นส่วนและอะไหล่ยานยนต์ เครื่องจักรกลการเกษตร ไปยังภูมิภาคนี้เป็นจำนวนมากและมีแนวโน้มนำเข้าสูงขึ้นเรื่อยๆ
นอกจากนี้ ในช่วงของการแบ่งปันประสบการณ์การทำธุรกิจในแอฟริกา ได้มีผู้แทนจากบจก. ไฮเทค แอพพาเรล บมจ.ไทยนำพลาสติก และบจก. อกริ อินดัสทรี เข้าร่วมแบ่งปันประสบการณ์การค้าขายและการลงทุนในภูมิภาคนี้อีกด้วย
On May 29, 2024, Mr. Kriengkrai Thiennukul, President of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), participated in the cooperation remarks and officially opened the seminar on “Trade and Investment Opportunities in the Agriculture Sector in African Countries,” organized by the African Ambassadors Group in Thailand in collaboration with the Thai-South African Business Association and the South African–Thai Chamber of Commerce (SATCC). The event was graced by the presence of Mr. Lindsey Kimole Kipteness, Ambassador of the Republic of Kenya to Thailand, and the Dean of the African Ambassadors in Thailand, along with ambassadors from five African countries: Mr. Lindsey Kimole Kipteness, Ambassador of the Republic of Kenya to Thailand and Dean of the African Ambassadors in Thailand; Mr. Abdurrahim Rahhali, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to Thailand; Mr. Darkey Africa, Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa to Thailand; Mrs. Halach Youssef Ahmad Rajab, Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Thailand; and Mr. Muhammad Aidid Haidra, Deputy Head of Mission of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to Thailand. The event attracted more than 100 interested participants at the Bangkok Midtown Hotel on Rama 6 Road.
During the event, Mr. Darkey Africa (His Excellency Mr.Darkey Africa), Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa to Thailand, delivered a summary of the opportunities and potentials of the African region, which is a growing market with increasing purchasing power from the middle class and significant infrastructure development underway. Africa is rich in natural resources, such as petroleum and natural gas. Thai products and businesses in demand in the market include agricultural products, textiles, canned food, and granulated sugar. Currently, Thailand exports a significant amount of automotive parts and agricultural machinery to this region, with an upward trend in imports continuing.
Additionally, during the experience-sharing session on doing business in Africa, representatives from Hi-Tech Apparel Co., Ltd., Thai Plastics and Chemicals Public Company Limited, and Agri Industry Co., Ltd. participated to share their experiences in trade and investment in this region.
