เมื่อวันที่ 10 มิถุนายน 2569 นายมนตรี มหาพฤกษ์พงศ์ รองประธานสภาอุตสาหกรรมแห่งประเทศไทย (ส.อ.ท.) พร้อมด้วย นายเจน นำชัยศิริ รองประธานสายงานกิจการต่างประเทศ เข้าร่วมงานเลี้ยงรับรองและมอบกระเช้าดอกไม้เพื่อแสดงความยินดีกับ H.E. Mr. Luiz de Albuquerque Veloso เอกอัครราชทูตสาธารณรัฐโปรตุเกสประจำประเทศไทย เนื่องในโอกาสวันชาติโปรตุเกส ณ สถานเอกอัครราชทูตโปรตุเกส กรุงเทพฯ โดยงานดังกล่าวได้รับเกียรติจาก นายวิชาวัฒน์ อิศรภักดี ผู้ช่วยรัฐมนตรีประจำกระทรวงการต่างประเทศ ร่วมกล่าวแสดงความยินดี
ทั้งนี้ ไทยและโปรตุเกสมีความสัมพันธ์ทางการทูตที่ยาวนานกว่า 500 ปี โดยโปรตุเกสเป็นประเทศยุโรปชาติแรกที่สถาปนาความสัมพันธ์กับอาณาจักรสยามตั้งแต่สมัยกรุงศรีอยุธยา และได้ลงนามในสนธิสัญญาทางพระราชไมตรี พาณิชย์ และการเดินเรือระหว่างกันเมื่อปี พ.ศ. 2395 ซึ่งเป็นรากฐานสำคัญของความสัมพันธ์อันแน่นแฟ้นที่ทั้งสองประเทศได้สานต่อและพัฒนาความร่วมมือมาอย่างต่อเนื่องยาวนานกว่าศตวรรษครึ่ง
ปัจจุบัน ไทยและโปรตุเกสมีความร่วมมือครอบคลุมในหลากหลายมิติ ทั้งด้านการเมือง เศรษฐกิจ การค้า การลงทุน วัฒนธรรม การศึกษา และการแลกเปลี่ยนระหว่างประชาชน โดยในปี 2568 ทั้งสองประเทศมีมูลค่าการค้ารวม 232.1 ล้านดอลลาร์สหรัฐ สินค้าส่งออกสำคัญของไทยไปยังโปรตุเกส ได้แก่ ยานยนต์และชิ้นส่วน เครื่องปรับอากาศและส่วนประกอบ ผลิตภัณฑ์ยาง และแผงวงจรพิมพ์ ขณะที่ไทยนำเข้าสินค้าจากโปรตุเกส อาทิ เสื้อผ้าสำเร็จรูป เครื่องจักรกลและส่วนประกอบ ผลิตภัณฑ์เวชกรรมและเภสัชกรรม เป็นต้น
On June 10, 2026, Mr. Montree Mahapruekphong, Vice Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), together with Mr. Jane Namchaisirirak, Vice Chairman of the International Affairs Committee, attended a reception and presented a flower basket to congratulate H.E. Mr. Luiz de Albuquerque Veloso, Ambassador of the Portuguese Republic to Thailand, on the occasion of Portugal's National Day at the Embassy of Portugal in Bangkok. The event was honored by the presence of Mr. Vichavath Isarapakdee, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs, who also extended his congratulations.
Thailand and Portugal have enjoyed a diplomatic relationship spanning over 500 years, with Portugal being the first European nation to establish relations with the Kingdom of Siam during the Ayutthaya period. The two countries signed a treaty of friendship, commerce, and navigation in 1852, which serves as a crucial foundation for the strong relationship that both nations have continued to nurture and develop in cooperation for more than a century and a half.
Currently, Thailand and Portugal cooperate across various dimensions, including politics, economics, trade, investment, culture, education, and people-to-people exchanges. In 2025, bilateral trade reached a total value of 232.1 million US dollars. Major Thai exports to Portugal include automobiles and parts, air conditioners and components, rubber products, and printed circuit boards, while Thailand imports goods from Portugal such as ready-made garments, machinery and parts, and pharmaceuticals.
