เมื่อวันจันทร์ที่ 23 กุมภาพันธ์ 2569 นางสาวเพชรรัตน์ เอกแสงกุล รองประธานสภาอุตสาหกรรมแห่งประเทศไทย (ส.อ.ท.) เข้าร่วมงานเลี้ยงรับรองเนื่องในโอกาสวันชาติ ครบรอบ 78 ปี วันประกาศเอกราชของสาธารณรัฐสังคมนิยมประชาธิปไตยศรีลังกา โดยมี Hon. Sunil Handunnetti, M.P. รัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงอุตสาหกรรมและการพัฒนาผู้ประกอบการแห่งศรีลังกา และ H.E. Mrs. E.A.S. Wijayanthi Edirisinghe เอกอัครราชทูตศรีลังกาประจำประเทศไทย ให้เกียรติเป็นเจ้าภาพ ณ โรงแรมไฮแอท รีเจนซี่ กรุงเทพ สุขุมวิท
ความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างประเทศไทยกับศรีลังกามีพัฒนาการอย่างต่อเนื่องในหลายมิติ ทั้งด้านการทูต เศรษฐกิจ และวัฒนธรรม โดยเฉพาะด้านเศรษฐกิจ มูลค่าการค้าระหว่างสองประเทศมีการขยายตัวอย่างต่อเนื่อง สินค้าส่งออกสำคัญของไทยไปยังศรีลังกา ได้แก่ รถยนต์และชิ้นส่วน เม็ดพลาสติก เคมีภัณฑ์ และอาหารแปรรูป ขณะที่ไทยนำเข้าอัญมณี ชา และเครื่องเทศจากศรีลังกา
นอกจากนี้ การลงนามความตกลงการค้าเสรีไทย–ศรีลังกา เมื่อปี 2567 ถือเป็นก้าวสำคัญในการเปิดตลาดและลดอุปสรรคทางการค้า ซึ่งจะช่วยเสริมสร้างขีดความสามารถในการแข่งขันของผู้ประกอบการของทั้งสองประเทศในระยะยาว
On Monday, February 23, 2026, Ms. Pecharaet Ekkasangal, Vice President of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), attended a reception in celebration of the 78th anniversary of the independence of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, hosted by Hon. Sunil Handunnetti, M.P., Minister of Industries and Entrepreneurship Development of Sri Lanka, and H.E. Mrs. E.A.S. Wijayanthi Edirisinghe, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Thailand, at the Hyatt Regency Bangkok Sukhumvit.
The relationship between Thailand and Sri Lanka has been continually developing across various dimensions, including diplomacy, economy, and culture. Particularly in the economic sector, trade between the two countries has been consistently expanding. Major Thai exports to Sri Lanka include automobiles and parts, plastic pellets, chemicals, and processed foods, while Thailand imports gems, tea, and spices from Sri Lanka.
Furthermore, the signing of the Thailand–Sri Lanka Free Trade Agreement in 2024 marks a significant step in opening markets and reducing trade barriers, which will enhance the competitiveness of entrepreneurs from both countries in the long term.
