On November 21, 2024, the Petroleum Refinery Industry Group of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) and PTT Group jointly organized The Annual Petroleum Outlook Forum titled “Regenerative Thailand with Cleanergy: Innovate and Advance Towards a Sustainable Future with Clean Energy.” The event featured Mrs. Rungnapa Janchoogeard, Chair of the Petroleum Refinery Industry Group, delivering the report, and Dr. Kongkapan Intarajang, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of PTT Public Company Limited, officiated the opening at the main conference room, Building 3, 2nd Floor, PTT Public Company Limited Headquarters, and was also streamed online via YouTube and Facebook PRISM.

Mr. Kriangkrai Thiennukul, President of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), was honored to deliver a special lecture on “Global Energy Situation Post USA Elections.” He presented the impacts of the Donald Trump 2.0 Make America Great Again policy, which may exert pressure on the global economy due to uncertainties in economic and foreign policy, accelerating economic polarization. This will result in a slowdown in global trade, a trend towards reshoring, technological and trade polarization (trade war and tech war), and stricter trade barriers, potentially delaying solutions to global warming.

In addition, Mr. Kriangkrai presented the export market situation of Thailand to the United States during the era of Donald Trump in 2019, where Thailand ranked 14th (-20.2), and in the era of Joe Biden from January to September 2024, where Thailand improved to 11th (-32.9). Regarding energy under the Trump 2.0 policy, key measures include increasing fossil fuel production (oil/natural gas/coal), which may lower costs to approximately 60 USD/Barrel.

During the event, the petroleum situation analysis team from PTT (PRISM Experts) discussed the demand for oil in 2025, which is expected to continue to rise. Key supporting factors include the reduction of interest rates in the United States and economic stimulus measures from China. However, there are still risks related to trade wars stemming from the policies of the new President of the United States, Donald Trump, which could impact the global economy.

In closing, Mr. Wattanapong Kurowat, Director of the Office of Energy Policy and Planning, Mr. Ninnat Chai-Teerapinyo, Honorary Advisor of Toyota Motor Thailand Co., Ltd. and President of the Hydrogen Association of Thailand, Mr. Kiran Limpiyaporn, Chief Operating Officer of Banpu Public Company Limited, Mr. Napasit Chaiwanakup, Deputy Managing Director of Carbon Solutions and Sustainable Growth, PTT Exploration and Production Public Company Limited, and Associate Professor Dr. Thawatchai Onjan, Director of the National Nuclear Technology Institute (Public Organization), shared their knowledge and perspectives on driving Thailand's clean energy policy to strengthen its growth.
