กระทรวงอุตฯ ผนึก ส.อ.ท. จัดใหญ่ “EnwastExpo 2024” ชูนวัตกรรม สินค้าบริการด้านสิ่งแวดล้อมและการจัดการของเสียMinistry of Industry and FTI Collaborate to Host Major “EnwastExpo 2024” Highlighting Innovations in Environmental Products and Waste Management Services

Today (November 13, 2024), Mr. Eknat Prompan, Minister of Industry, presided over the opening of EnwastExpo 2024 (Environmental & Waste Management Expo 2024), an exhibition of services and seminars addressing environmental issues and waste management under the theme "Driving Towards a Better World Episode 2: Future We Care," organized by the Environmental Management Industry Group of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) in collaboration with the Sustainable Waste Management Association and environmental networks. The event was honored by the presence of Mr. Natthapol Rangsitpol, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Industry; Mr. Kriangkrai Theeranu-kul, FTI President; and executives from various agencies, both public and private sectors, as well as the media, at Impact Muang Thong Thani.

Mr. Eknat Prompan, Minister of Industry, stated that the Ministry of Industry has a policy focused on three main areas: 1. Management of toxic waste that harms the lives of citizens, 2. Saving the Thai industry, and 3. Creating a new economic industry. This will be implemented through three approaches: 1) establishing partnerships in a complete industrial chain, 2) creating a fund for industrial system reform, and 3) adjusting laws and missions for a digital public sector to create Ease of Doing Business, aiming to promote the industrial sector towards a green industry. The new green industry criteria have been improved to prioritize sustainable industrial business development in harmony with communities, promoting and elevating enterprises to operate in line with goals to reduce climate change and environmental impact through efficient resource use, supporting sustainable production and consumption in accordance with the BCG concept towards achieving Carbon Neutrality and Net Zero Emissions, aligning with the responsibilities of Thailand and the global community while ensuring social responsibility and equitable income distribution to communities, as well as maintaining international competitiveness.
“The Ministry of Industry will promote and support operations aimed at achieving sustainable, environmentally friendly industries, establishing systems for waste management and disposal in the industry that do not impact communities, and utilizing alternative energy towards developing a Bio-Circular Economy to create a model for Zero Carbon Industry in the future,”

Mr. Kriangkrai Theeranu-kul, President of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), disclosed that the FTI focuses on promoting knowledge and driving the transition to a circular economy to elevate industries to be environmentally friendly. This includes raising the standards of industrial waste management to international levels, promoting and activating the Circular Material Hub platform to utilize discarded materials for the production of new products, encouraging FTI members to manage industrial waste correctly according to principles and legal standards, using services from companies certified as Eco Factory for Waste Processor or those with standards for good industrial waste management. This will push members to produce high value-added products that meet new global trends for sustainability using clean energy towards being a green industry as per the BCG Model and an industry that actively contributes to reducing global warming, achieving Net Zero carbon emissions to sustainably address environmental issues.”

Mr. Thanathorn Trongsithiwat, President of the Environmental Management Industry Group of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), revealed that the “EnwastExpo 2024” is being held for the second time, showcasing the latest technologies, innovations, and services used in environmental management, industrial waste management, community waste management, and household waste management, learning the 360-degree environmental management process, along with seminars featuring leading environmental experts covering more than 20 topics.

Topics include special lectures on “Circular Economy: Trend or Necessity,” “ESG and Sustainable Business Operations,” “Laws Regarding Changing Industries / Direction and Future,” and a discussion on “Industrial Waste Problems: Solutions and Preventive Measures,” among others. Additionally, the event will feature business matching activities with quality partners aimed at raising industry standards throughout the three days, with an estimated 10,000 attendees expected, including business owners, industrial factory representatives, various public and private sector agencies, and interested citizens, in over 8,000 square meters to accommodate the high demand from operators and organizations with more than 150 companies participating.
