ระหว่างวันที่ 5-7 พฤศจิกายน 2567 นายเกรียงไกร เธียรนุกุล ประธานสภาอุตสาหกรรมแห่งประเทศไทย (ส.อ.ท.) ในฐานะประธานสภาธุรกิจ GMS ได้เข้าร่วมการประชุมสุดยอดผู้นำแผนงานความร่วมมือทางเศรษฐกิจลุ่มแม่น้ำโขง ครั้งที่ 8 (8th GMS Summit) ณ นครคุนหมิง สาธารณรัฐประชาชนจีน
การประชุมครั้งนี้ เป็นการประชุมผู้นำในรูปแบบพบหน้าครั้งแรกตั้งแต่ปี 2561 โดยวันที่ 5 พฤศจิกายน 2567 นายเกรียงไกร ได้เข้าร่วมการประชุมหุ้นส่วนการพัฒนาของลุ่มแม่น้ำโขง (GMS Development Partners’ Meeting) จัดโดยธนาคารพัฒนาเอเชีย (Asian Development Bank) เพื่อนำเสนอผลงานของสภาธุรกิจ GMS และนำเสนอแนวทางความร่วมมือระหว่างภาครัฐ ภาคเอกชน และหุ้นส่วนการพัฒนาต่างๆ เพื่อขับเคลื่อนการพัฒนาพื้นที่ความร่วมมือ โดยการส่งเสริมบทบาทภาคเอกชนในโครงการพัฒนามากยิ่งขึ้น ซึ่งภาคเอกชนนั้นมีศักยภาพในการพัฒนาเชิงนวัตกรรม และพร้อมสนับสนุนแผนงาน GMS ด้วยการจัดตั้งเครือข่ายผู้เชี่ยวชาญทางธุรกิจจากสภาธุรกิจ GMS เข้าไปมีส่วนร่วมในการทำงานของคณะทำงานแต่ละสาขา ตั้งแต่กระบวนการริเริ่มโครงการ เพื่อให้การพัฒนาสอดคล้องกับความต้องการของตลาด และรองรับความท้าทายด้านต่างๆ ของโลกได้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพ ซึ่งนายเกรียงไกร ได้แลกเปลี่ยนแนวคิดเพิ่มเติมกับ Mr. Winfried F. Wicklein ผู้อำนวยการสำนักเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ ธนาคารพัฒนาเอเชียอีกด้วย
วันที่ 6 พฤศจิกายน 2567 นายเกรียงไกร เข้าพบนายกรัฐมนตรีไทย นางสาวแพทองธาร ชินวัตร เพื่อรายงานถึงการนำเสนอในที่ประชุม GMS Development Partners’ Meeting และขอการสนับสนุนจากภาครัฐเพื่อยกระดับบทบาทของภาคเอกชนในแผนงาน GMS และได้เข้าร่วมงานเลี้ยงต้อนรับผู้นำ GMS ณ โรงแรม InterContinental Kunming ในช่วงเย็น
ในส่วนของวันที่ 7 พฤศจิกายน 2567 นายเกรียงไกร ได้เข้าร่วมการประชุมเต็มคณะของการประชุมสุดยอดผู้นำแผนงานความร่วมมือทางเศรษฐกิจลุ่มแม่น้ำโขง ครั้งที่ 8 ณ Yunnan Haigeng Auditorium โดยการประชุมนี้ นายหลี่ เฉียง นายกรัฐมนตรีสาธารณรัฐประชาชนจีน เป็นประธานในการประชุม พร้อมด้วยผู้นำประเทศสมาชิก GMS โดยมีนางสาวแพทองธาร ชินวัตร นายกรัฐมนตรีประเทศไทย นายฮุน มาแณต นายกรัฐมนตรีประเทศกัมพูชา นายสอนไซ สีพันดอน นายกรัฐมนตรีสาธารณรัฐประชาธิปไตยลาว นายพลอาวุโสมิน อ่อง หล่าย นายกรัฐมนตรีสหภาพเมียนมา และนายฝั่ม มิญ จิ๊ญ นายกรัฐมนตรีสังคมนิยมเวียดนาม เข้าร่วมประชุมในหัวข้อ “มุ่งสู่การเป็นประชาคมที่ดีกว่าเดิม ด้วยการพัฒนาที่ขับเคลื่อนด้วยนวัตกรรม”
ทั้งนี้ ที่ประชุมได้รับรองแถลงการณ์ร่วมการประชุมสุดยอดผู้นำแผนงาน GMS ครั้งที่ 8 และยุทธศาสตร์นวัตกรรมเพื่อการพัฒนาของอนุภูมิภาคลุ่มแม่น้ำโขง ปี ค.ศ. 2030
From November 5-7, 2024, Mr. Kriangkrai Thiennukul, Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), as Chair of the GMS Business Council, attended the 8th GMS Economic Cooperation Leaders' Summit in Kunming, People’s Republic of China.
This meeting marked the first face-to-face leaders' summit since 2018. On November 5, 2024, Mr. Kriangkrai participated in the GMS Development Partners’ Meeting organized by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to present the work of the GMS Business Council and to propose cooperation methods between the government, private sector, and various development partners to drive the development of the cooperation area by enhancing the role of the private sector in development projects. The private sector has significant potential for innovative development and is ready to support the GMS agenda by establishing a network of business experts from the GMS Business Council to engage in the operations of each working group starting from project initiation, ensuring that development aligns with market needs and effectively addresses various global challenges. Mr. Kriangkrai also exchanged further insights with Mr. Winfried F. Wicklein, Director of the Southeast Asia Department of the Asian Development Bank.
On November 6, 2024, Mr. Kriangkrai met with Thai Prime Minister Ms. Paetongtarn Shinawatra to report on the presentation at the GMS Development Partners’ Meeting and to seek governmental support to enhance the role of the private sector in the GMS agenda. He also attended the GMS leaders’ welcome dinner at the InterContinental Kunming hotel in the evening.
On November 7, 2024, Mr. Kriangkrai joined the plenary session of the 8th GMS Economic Cooperation Leaders' Summit at Yunnan Haigeng Auditorium. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Li Qiang, Premier of the People’s Republic of China, with the leaders of GMS member countries, including Ms. Paetongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister of Thailand, Mr. Hun Manet, Prime Minister of Cambodia, Mr. Sonexay Sitphaxay, Prime Minister of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, General Min Aung Hlaing, Prime Minister of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, and Mr. Pham Minh Chinh, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, discussing the theme “Towards a Better Community through Innovation-driven Development.”
The summit adopted the joint statement and the innovation strategy for the development of the GMS subregion for the year 2030.
