เมื่อวันศุกร์ที่ 6 กันยายน 2567 นายเกรียงไกร เธียรนุกุล ประธานสภาอุตสาหกรรมแห่งประเทศไทย (ส.อ.ท.) เป็นประธานเปิดการประชุมคณะกรรมการสภาธุรกิจ GMS ครั้งที่ 1 ประจำปี 2567 ในฐานะประธานสภาธุรกิจแผนงานความร่วมมือทางเศรษฐกิจในอนุภูมิภาคลุ่มแม่น้ำโขง (GMS Business Council) วาระปี 2567-2569 ร่วมกับประธานและผู้แทนสภาธุรกิจ GMS แห่งประเทศกัมพูชา ลาว เมียนมาและเวียดนาม พร้อมทั้งผู้แทนจากธนาคารเพื่อการพัฒนาเอเชีย (Asia Development Bank – ADB) ณ ส.อ.ท.
ในการประชุมครั้งนี้ มีผู้แทนฝ่ายไทยจาก 3 สถาบันเข้าร่วมประชุม ประกอบด้วยนายเวทิต โชควัฒนา รองประธาน ส.อ.ท. นายปณิธาน ปวโรฬารวิทยา รองเลขาธิการ ส.อ.ท. นายกริช อึ้งวิฑูรสถิตย์ รองประธานงานอาเซียนและโลจิสติกส์ นายกอบศักดิ์ ดวงดี เลขาธิการสมาคมธนาคารไทย นายชาติชาย สิงหเดช ที่ปรึกษาสมาคมธนาคารไทย นายไพรัช บูรพชัยศรี รองประธานสภาหอการค้าแห่งประเทศไทย และนายวรทัศน์ ตันติมงคลสุข กรรมการสภาหอการค้าแห่งประเทศไทย ประชุมผ่านระบบออนไลน์
การประชุมจัดขึ้นโดยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อติดตามความก้าวหน้าโครงการของภาคเอกชน รวมถึงร่วมกันกำหนดทิศทางในการทำงานระหว่างภาคเอกชน ภายใต้แผนงานความร่วมมือกลุ่มประเทศอนุภูมิภาคลุ่มแม่น้ำโขง โดยโครงการของภาคเอกชนไทยมีโครงการที่ดำเนินการอยู่ คือ Digital Payment Gateway และได้เสนอแนวทางใหม่ในการปรับปรุงกลไกการดำเนินงานของฝ่ายเลขานุการ เพื่อให้มีประสิทธิภาพมากขึ้น และสามารถสนับสนุนการมีส่วนร่วมของภาคเอกชนในแผนงาน GMS ได้ดียิ่งขึ้น รวมถึงมีความประสงค์จะผลักดันแนวคิดการสร้างเครือข่ายนักธุรกิจในภูมิภาค ในรูปแบบโครงการ YEN-D (Young Entrepreneur Network Development Program) ภายใต้การสนับสนุนของภาครัฐ หรือพันธมิตรด้านการพัฒนาต่อไป ซึ่งจะสอดคล้องกับกลยุทธ์การเพิ่มการมีส่วนร่วมของภาคเอกชนในแผนงาน GMS
นอกจากนี้ ที่ประชุมยังได้มีการหารือ เพื่อเตรียมการเข้าร่วมประชุมระดับผู้นำครั้งที่ 8 ในวันที่ 7 พฤศจิกายน 2567 นี้ ณ เมืองคุนหมิง สาธารณรัฐประชาชนจีน
On Friday, September 6, 2024, Mr. Kriangkrai Thiennukul, Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), presided over the opening of the first committee meeting of the GMS Business Council for the year 2024 as the Chairman of the GMS Economic Cooperation Framework Business Council for the 2024-2026 agenda, together with the Chairmen and representatives of the GMS Business Councils from Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam, along with representatives from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) at FTI.
This meeting was attended by representatives from three Thai institutions, including Mr. Wetit Chokwatana, Vice Chairman of FTI; Mr. Panithan Pavarolarwittaya, Deputy Secretary-General of FTI; Mr. Krit Uengwitoonrat, Vice Chairman for ASEAN and Logistics; Mr. Kobkarn Duangdee, Secretary-General of the Thai Bankers' Association; Mr. Chatchai Singhadeth, Advisor to the Thai Bankers' Association; Mr. Phairach Buraphaichaisri, Vice Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce; and Mr. Woratat Tantimongkolsuk, Committee Member of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, who attended the meeting online.
The meeting was organized with the aim of monitoring the progress of private sector projects, as well as jointly setting the direction for collaboration between the private sector under the GMS Cooperation Framework. The ongoing projects from the Thai private sector include the Digital Payment Gateway, and they have proposed new approaches to improve the operational mechanisms of the secretariat to enhance efficiency and better support the private sector's participation in the GMS agenda. Additionally, there is an intention to promote the concept of creating a network of businesspeople in the region through the YEN-D (Young Entrepreneur Network Development Program) project under the support of the government or development partners, which will align with the strategy to increase private sector engagement in the GMS agenda.
Moreover, the meeting also discussed preparations for the 8th Leaders' Meeting on November 7, 2024, in Kunming, People's Republic of China.
