On March 9, 2026, Mr. Kriangkrai Theeranukool, Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), assigned Mr. Nawa Chantanasurakorn, Vice Chairman of FTI, to represent FTI in discussions with Mr. Surintr Sunthornsanan, Deputy Director-General of the Department of International Trade Promotion, at Meeting Room 50601, 6th Floor, Riverside Building, Department of International Trade Promotion, Ministry of Commerce.
The event was attended by FTI executives, including Mr. Jan Namchaisiri, Honorary Chairman of FTI and Chairman of the Textile Industry Group, along with representatives from related industry groups, including Electrical and Electronics, Leather and Leather Products, Steel, Pharmaceuticals, Garments, and Automotive Parts, to collaboratively formulate key strategies to enhance the “Regional Value Content (RVC).”
The meeting collectively considered ways to enhance the use of Local Content, which is crucial for future trade contexts, proposing the following main approaches:
1. Promote the use of Made in Thailand (MiT) products both in the public and private sectors to increase the market scale of domestic products, thus strengthening the domestic Supply Chain.
2. Encourage investment in important upstream industries to foster new industries in the future.
3. Increase the rigor of law enforcement and regulations within the country.
This discussion is regarded as a significant step in supporting the Thai industrial sector in preparing for exports to international markets, maintaining competitiveness and tax advantages in the global marketplace, while also instilling confidence among international partners that Thai products are produced under standardized processes, genuinely creating regional added value, and are ready to adapt to the new sustainable global trade rules.
