“Pimjai” announced the acceleration of the 700-day plan to transform the strategy The New Chapter of Thai Industry into tangible outcomes, while pushing for Buy Thai to become a national agenda, aiming for the purchase of Made in Thailand products worth 200 billion baht, reforming infrastructure, energy, legislation, and elevating Thai industry for the future.

On August 30, 2026, Ms. Pimjai Leeissaranukul, President of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), revealed the progress of operations during the first 90 days under the strategy “The New Chapter of Thai Industry: Empowering Growth with 5I”, continuing the mission according to the 700-day plan to address urgent issues for members and the industrial sector, alongside laying a foundation to enhance the country's competitive capabilities in the long term. This emphasizes the linking of work between FTI, the government, and related agencies to push industrial proposals into the policy mechanism and lead to concrete implementation at the Chatrium Ballroom, 4th floor, Chatrium Riverside Hotel, Bangkok.

Ms. Pimjai stated that "Throughout the first 90 days of work, FTI has been accelerating the 5I strategy through policy collaboration, alongside promoting practical outcomes." After taking office and appointing the executive committee about two weeks prior, she led the FTI executive team to meet with Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, the Prime Minister, on May 12, 2026, to present six key proposals from the industrial sector covering the promotion of Made in Thailand products, support for SMEs, energy restructuring, legal reform, infrastructure development, and elevating industrial waste management.

One of the significant proposals that has progressed is "reviving the mechanism of Gor." to provide a platform for both the government and the private sector to systematically address the issues of the industrial sector. A committee for Gor has been established, and two meetings have been held to drive the work, representing another crucial mechanism for linking proposals from the industrial sector to policy resolutions.

For I4 regarding the reform of industrial infrastructure, FTI has held discussions with Mr. Eknat Phromphan, Minister of Energy, twice to push important issues that affect energy security and the competitiveness of the manufacturing sector, particularly supporting the implementation of the PDP2026 plan, opening Direct PPA, and promoting clean energy.

In the area of legal reform and governance, FTI, as a private sector organization and one of the three core institutions of the Joint Private Sector Committee (JCC), is actively driving the mission "Zero Corruption: JCC and Friends Do Not Tolerate" to counter corruption and enhance transparency in the Thai economic system, aligning with the government's policy that has established a coordinating committee to combat corruption (NACC) to strengthen anti-corruption efforts and push for private sector proposals concretely, chaired by Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul. Regarding legal reform, FTI has sent a representative to participate in the legal reform working group, chaired by Mr. Pakorn Nilprapunt, Deputy Prime Minister for Legal Affairs.

At the same time, in the aspect of adopting technology, digital innovation, and developing future human resources, FTI has met and discussed with Professor Dr. Yothin Wongswad, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research, and Innovation, to connect research, technology, and the development of human resources to meet the actual needs of the industrial sector.

In addition, FTI has met with Mr. Warawut Silpa-archa, Minister of Industry, which is the key ministry overseeing and collaborating with the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), agreeing to hold meetings every two months to closely follow up and coordinate.

[Accelerating SME Elevation with AI – Creating New Business Opportunities]
In promoting SMEs, FTI has discussed with the Office of Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion (OSMEP) to collaboratively develop SMEs continuously. Recently, FTI received budget support to promote the use of AI to enhance SME capabilities through the AI Camp project.

At the same time, discussions have also taken place with the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB) to connect cooperation in promoting and supporting FTI activities to create tangible impacts across all forms in the industrial sector.

Ms. Pimjai stated that in addition to working policy-wise with the government, FTI is also advancing internal organizational system reforms by restructuring its administration into 31 departments to better address members' needs comprehensively, connecting, and enhancing efficiency. Emphasis is placed on elevating governance standards within the organization through Corporate Governance, internal audits, and increasing transparency in operations. FTI has appointed PricewaterhouseCoopers, a globally trusted consulting and auditing firm, as an auditor to support the improvement of the operational system for greater accuracy, transparency, and efficiency.

Another significant mission is to promote Made in Thailand (MiT) as a crucial mechanism to increase the use of Thai products, with a target for public procurement of Thai goods valued at 200 billion baht, while extending to three strategic industries: defense industry, rail systems, and medical devices.

“We will not stop at MiT because the larger goal is to promote the Buy Thai campaign as a national agenda, to convert purchasing power to orders for Thai products, increase production capacity, and support Thai entrepreneurs,” said Ms. Pimjai.

At the same time, FTI continues to open new market opportunities for members through collaboration with Siam Piwat to create opportunities for Thai entrepreneurs to develop products, advance businesses, and access markets tangibly while establishing a foundation for Thai products to grow and compete, including the promotion and driving of the Thai Industrial Standards (TIS) 9999 to implement the principles of sufficiency economy philosophy of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great in the industrial sector.
