On Friday, September 4, 2026, the Northeast Regional Industrial Council held its first committee meeting of the year 2026 to jointly define the direction and drive industrial development in the region, providing a platform for exchanging views, listening to problems, and suggestions from committee members and local stakeholders at the Ruby Siam Room, 5th Floor, Sunee Grand Hotel and Convention Center, Ubon Ratchathani.

Mrs. Pimjai Leeissaranukul, President of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), along with Mr. Sakchai Unchitthikul, Senior Vice President of FTI, Mr. Phairat Uechuayod, Mr. Narongrit Panichcheewa, Mr. Sanit Kasuwan, and Mr. Worawut Navasaritsakul, Vice Presidents of FTI, as well as members of the FTI committee, attended the Northeast Regional Industrial Council meeting. They were honored by Mr. Phusit Noisophakul, Deputy Governor of Ubon Ratchathani, who welcomed them and expressed support for fostering cooperation among government, private, and industrial sectors to develop the regional economy.

During this meeting, Mrs. Pimjai spoke about the development of Thai industry through the 5I strategy and the advancement of key agendas to elevate the industrial sector as follows:

1. Proposing to the Prime Minister to revive the government-private sector committee mechanism to address economic problems (GPC).
2. Promoting proposals to enhance energy security and discussing issues related to excess oil and its impacts.
3. Advocating anti-corruption measures by focusing on reducing discretionary powers, increasing digital system usage, and enhancing transparency.
4. Promoting Intelligent Industry and fostering innovation alongside developing future human resources.
5. Encouraging cooperation in trade, investment, and advanced technology between the Thai government, private sectors, and China, aiming to attract investment in targeted industries.
6. Promoting cooperation in supporting domestically produced automotive industries, expanding the market for Made in Thailand (MiT) products, and enhancing industrial waste management.
7. Proposing improvements to investment promotion measures to better align with the country's industrial development by focusing on creating domestic supply chains, increasing value, technology transfer, and linking foreign investment with Thai operators.
8. Promoting the use of AI to enhance the capabilities of operators through the Digital & AI Camp project.
9. Assisting Thai SMEs in accessing capital, technology, and new markets through discussions with the Office of Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion (OSMEP).
10. Supporting members in the Isaan region to drive TIS 9999 standards, linking royal initiatives with upgrading the competitiveness of the Thai industrial sector.
11. Accelerating the transition of Thai industries toward green industries for sustainable growth.
12. Promoting the development of the Northeast Economic Corridor (NeEC) into a high-value economic zone by connecting agriculture, industry, technology, and investment to enhance the competitive abilities of the Isaan region.
13. Driving “Reinvent Thailand, Resilient ASEAN” at The Bangkok Business Summit 2026, offering ways to elevate Thai industries toward Intelligent Industry, enhance energy security, develop logistics, and increase competitiveness in the global supply chain.

Additionally, Mrs. Porntip Tangtrakulwong, President of the Northeast Regional Industrial Council, and Mr. Anuchit Sukulkoo, Secretary-General of the Northeast Regional Industrial Council, conducted the meeting according to the agenda, presenting important operational guidelines of the regional industrial council including the following issues:
1. Presenting the strategic plan of the Northeast Regional Industrial Council in line with the 5I.
• Developing transportation networks, logistics, and trade gateways along the Mekong River.
• Developing smart agriculture and high-value food industries.
• Developing green industries and transitioning to clean energy.
• Advancing digital, artificial intelligence, and future human capital.
• Enhancing SME capabilities and promoting investment.

2. Issues and concerns of members:
• Reviewing and amending standards for Thai jasmine rice.
• Reviewing criteria for granting licenses for clean technology printing factories with low impacts.
• Amending electric power purchase agreements.
• Requesting to amend land use ratio for business activities according to the provincial town planning ministerial regulation of Ubon Ratchathani Province, BE 2015.

3. Hiring staff for the regional industrial council to support its activities using a team from the Udorn Thani Provincial Industrial Council.
4. Introducing plans for organizing activities for the YFTI Legion – Northeast under the guidance of the Northeast Regional Industrial Council to create a network of new generation industrialists in the Isaan region, to be a vital force in driving the Thai industrial sector in the future.

The first committee meeting of the Northeast Regional Industrial Council in 2026 serves as an important mechanism for connecting cooperation among FTI, regional industrial councils, and provincial industrial councils to collaboratively promote the Thai industrial sector, especially in the Northeast region, to grow robustly and sustainably.
