The Italian–Thai Business Forum (ITBF) has been held continuously for 11 years, serving as an essential platform for exchanging information, knowledge, and business experiences between the Thai and Italian private sectors, as well as promoting economic, trade, and investment cooperation in the target industries of both countries. This includes significant sectors such as automotive, banking, infrastructure and transportation, food, hotels and accommodation, furniture, renewable energy, machinery, and rubber, among others.
During the event, Mrs. Pimjai delivered a speech on behalf of the Thai industrial sector, reflecting on the potential and growth trends of economic relations between Thailand and Italy, which reached a total trade value of over 5,082 million USD in 2025. Key products exchanged included electrical appliances, gems and jewelry, automotive parts, and machinery.
Meanwhile, investments from Italian companies in Thailand not only generate economic value but also play a significant role in the development of infrastructure and industrial capabilities in Thailand, particularly in logistics, energy, advanced manufacturing, and automotive and parts sectors.
To leverage these strengths towards higher value cooperation, Mrs. Pimjai proposed three sectors where Thailand and Italy have potential for joint development:
1) Smart Manufacturing: Connecting Thailand's strong manufacturing base and supply chain with Italy's advanced technology and engineering expertise to enhance production and promote investments in the industries of the future.
2) Agriculture & Food: Integrating Thailand's raw material potential and food production with Italian technology, innovation, and standards expertise to develop high-value products, elevate inspection standards, and promote sustainable production.
3) Fashion & Lifestyle: Building on Thailand's textile, gem, and handicraft industries by harnessing Italy's strengths in design and branding through joint design and marketing efforts to increase the value of Thai products and expand opportunities into European markets.
Additionally, the “The New Chapter of Thai Industry" was presented under FTI's 5I strategy, which aims to elevate the Thai industry into a new era through the application of AI, automation, and digital technologies, the creation of Thai innovation and brands, the establishment of international partnerships, infrastructure reform in the industrial sector, and driving the industry towards sustainability. It emphasized that Thailand is ready to serve as both a manufacturing base and a business partner, acting as a gateway to the ASEAN market for Italian businesses.
Moreover, there was an invitation for Italian companies to engage with the network of The Federation of Thai Industries to collaboratively transform the potentials of both countries into more tangible business and investment cooperation.
