Post Audit

On Wednesday, October 14, 2026, the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) announced the clarification on the “MiT Logo,” emphasizing that it is a certification mark for products manufactured in Thailand according to specified criteria. Its role serves as an identification of Thai nationality for the products to instill confidence among government agencies and buyers. The FTI is continuing to develop an ecosystem for Thai products, enhancing the certification and traceability processes, and strengthening information security with ISO 27001 standards to drive the value of Thai procurement to the target of 200 billion baht by 2027.

Mrs. Pimjai Leeissaranukul, Chairman of The Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), stated that currently some product types have “Made in Thailand” mentioned directly on the products. Thus, the FTI would like to clarify that the term “Made in Thailand” is a common phrase indicating that the product is manufactured or assembled in Thailand. Domestic manufacturers can indicate such a phrase according to related conditions; however, this phrase is not the “MiT Certification Logo” and is not equivalent to products that have undergone the certification process by the FTI.

“What is important to understand is that MiT is not a ‘policy’ of the government and is not a ‘product quality standard’ like TIS, which focuses on safety testing. Instead, MiT is a ‘certification mark’ that serves as an indication of the Thai nationality for products to confirm domestically produced characteristics according to specified criteria.”

The FTI is the only agency assigned according to the ministry regulation determining items and methods for procurement which the government aims to promote or support in 2020 under the Public Procurement Act of 2017, granting authority to consider issuing certificates and registering products. The certified products must display the “MiT Logo,” which the FTI has officially registered as a trademark, along with a QR Code on the certificate for immediate traceability. This aims to prevent misrepresentation and usurpation, enabling the government to identify and clarify which products are genuinely Thai.

Mrs. Pimjai stated that the FTI aims to drive the value of Thai procurement to 200 billion baht by the year 2027, focusing on increasing the opportunities for Thai manufacturers whose products have been certified by MiT to participate more in procurement and receive ongoing orders. As of October 2026, there are over 40,000 active MiT products, with the government procurement value exceeding 100 billion baht. The majority of the registered MiT products are in key industrial sectors such as construction materials, electrical and electronics, plastics and petrochemicals, machinery, and office equipment and furniture.

In addition to product certification, FTI aims to develop a connecting ecosystem linking producers, operators in the supply chain, and purchasing agencies, allowing the Thai industrial sector to collectively use Thai products robustly. When the procurement budget circulates back into actual orders for domestic producers, it will support production capacity, employment, and the growth of the Thai supply chain, as well as increase opportunities for SMEs to access the market and grow alongside the industry.

Regarding this, Mrs. Kanit Muangkrachang, Vice Chairman of FTI, Chairman, Industrial Standards and Competitiveness, and Chairman of the MiT Monitoring Committee of FTI, along with Dr. Naran Sirisantana, Chairman of the MiT Subcommittee, has agreed with the FTI Chairman's policy and is moving forward with operational guidelines emphasizing transparency, confidence of manufacturers, and the practical expansion of usage through enhancing certification processes, post-verification, and maintaining information security. The major missions include:

International Standard Certification Process, Cost Calculation Formula, and Post Audit System
The MiT certification adheres to the ASEAN Local Content Scheme calculation criteria, which requires that the proportion of domestic raw material and labor costs must not be less than 40% and follows methods recognized by the World Trade Organization (WTO), thus not constituting trade barriers. In addition, the FTI has a post-audit mechanism for reviewing documents detailing costs and conducting random checks at actual establishments to assure purchasing agencies that there is no usurpation of products.

Information Security Management System ISO 27001
To build confidence regarding data security and alleviate concerns about data leakage, the FTI has established the MiT certification system under ISO 27001 standards, an international information security management standard, to safeguard cost documents, personal data, and trade secrets of its members rigorously.

The development of this system aims to ensure confidence among both applicants for certification and purchasing agencies that products bearing the MiT Logo have undergone a certification process according to the specified criteria, have traceability mechanisms, and data protection measures in place.

Therefore, the FTI requests all government agencies and state enterprises to promote the procurement of MiT certified products across all product groups and industries, including the procurement of goods for regular use and infrastructure investment, in order to translate certifications into actual usage and drive the value of Thai procurement to achieve the target of 200 billion baht by 2027.

Especially in the current situation where many areas are facing flooding, the FTI urges relevant agencies to consider purchasing MiT certified products to support recovery and rehabilitation in affected areas, including the repair of infrastructure, public utility systems, and buildings, such as construction materials for road repair, water supply and sanitation products, electrical system equipment like wires and cables, transformers, and control cabinets, as well as furniture, cleaning products, office supplies, and equipment, selecting products that meet the specifications and standards consistent with usage requirements under applicable procurement regulations. The FTI also invites the private sector to choose MiT products for the rehabilitation of factories and establishments.

Utilizing MiT products in the recovery and rehabilitation efforts in this disaster will help direct the funds used for repairs back into orders for domestic manufacturers, including SMEs, and raw materials or parts producers in the supply chain, supporting the resumption of business operations, maintaining employment, and circulating income in the affected areas. This will thus link disaster recovery with stimulating the Thai economy, allowing both disaster-affected regions and the business sector to recover simultaneously. Consequently, the FTI encourages Thai manufacturers to register for the MiT logo and invites all sectors to “choose Thai products to create a sustainable Thai economy.”

For entrepreneurs interested in applying for MiT certification or checking the list of products, further information can be found at www.mit.fti.or.th or by contacting the Federation of Thai Industries at 02-345-1100.
