On Friday, May 29, 2026, Mrs. Pimjai Leeissaranukul, Chairperson of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), attended THAIFEX - Anuga Asia 2026, the largest food and beverage exhibition in Asia, held at Impact Muang Thong Thani. She was accompanied by Dr. Piyanooch Malakul na Ayudhya, Vice Chairperson of FTI, Mr. Thongdee Paso, FTI Board Member and Chairperson of the Food and Beverage Industry Group, Mr. Charoen Kaewsuksa, Honorary Chairperson of the Food and Beverage Industry Group, Mr. Pachai Janpitak, Vice Chairperson of the Food and Beverage Industry Group, along with Ms. Panrat Phetrakhadee, FTI Director General, who also participated in this event.
The event featured a collection of food industry operators from both domestic and international markets, covering a wide range of products from agricultural goods, processed agricultural products, food technologies, innovations in food, to future food (Future Food) that is gaining attention in the global market. This reflects Thailand's potential in becoming a “business hub for food in the ASEAN region” and the “kitchen of the world” in a tangible manner.
Furthermore, the Thai food industry remains one of the “key economic engines” with high potential for value creation. Therefore, the Federation of Thai Industries is advancing the 5I policy under the concept of “The New Chapter of Thai Industry”, particularly I2: INNOVATION & CREATIVE INDUSTRY, which aims to promote the Future Food Industry by applying innovations, technologies, and sustainable development approaches to accommodate the behaviors of new-age consumers and the future food systems globally.
In addition, FTI places significant emphasis on the development of the “Food Industry Cluster” to link the supply chain from upstream, midstream, and downstream, covering agriculture, processing, packaging, logistics, all the way to markets and exports. It also promotes the use of AI, automation, and smart manufacturing to enhance production efficiency, reduce costs, elevate food safety standards, and address the global market demands that increasingly prioritize ESG, carbon footprint, and traceability.
At the same time, there is a focus on creating a Food Innovation Ecosystem to support Thai entrepreneurs in developing health foods, future foods, and high-value products, as well as promoting collaboration among industry sectors, educational institutions, research agencies, and the government to strengthen the food innovation network, enhancing the competitiveness of Thai operators, particularly SMEs and local food brands, enabling them to sustainably expand into international markets.
In the context of the new global economy, the Thai food industry is not merely a “manufacturing industry” but is advancing towards being an “industry of value and innovation” that integrates the economy, society, environment, and creative industries of the country. It is positioned as one of the key strategic industries driving the Thai economy in 2026 and beyond.
