On Sunday, February 1, 2026, Mr. Kriangkrai Theeranukul, President of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), participated in the public forum on the rule of law entitled “Reinvent Thailand — Reform the Rule of Law” at the Conference Hall on the 2nd floor of the Thailand Institute of Justice (TIJ), Chaengwattana, Bangkok.

Mr. Kriangkrai stated that the structural problems of Thailand are not easy to resolve. Today, "systemic corruption" and the inequality in law enforcement, along with outdated regulations, are causing the entire country's structure to “decline” to a concerning level. Therefore, the first “button must be buttoned correctly.”

Thus, a network of new generation leaders in rule of law and development (RoLD), in collaboration with the Joint Private Sector Committee (JorPorRor) and the Anti-Corruption Organization (ACT), along with THE STANDARD News Agency, organized a forum to delve into the visions of various political parties. This included Mr. Chaturon Chaisang of the Pheu Thai Party, Dr. Porchai Maranet of the Democrat Party, and Ms. Piangporn Boonglam of the People Party, to discuss their perspectives on the issues that hinder the country and the commitments they have made to address structural problems in rule of law to build a foundation for sustainability by embedding the principles of the “rule of law” in the next generation of national leaders.

Mr. Kriangkrai mentioned that Thailand has over 100,000 laws, which is a problem that has never been truly resolved, reflecting cumulative issues over the years—resulting in hidden costs and undermining those who comply with the law and do good deeds. At the same time, it benefits dishonest individuals, leading to stagnation, decline, and an inability for the country to move forward.

In order to enhance the ease of doing business and increase the country's competitiveness, Mr. Kriangkrai questioned the political parties on how they will address these issues in the first 100 days of government if elected, and which laws or regulations would be prioritized for review and reform.

Regarding this, Mr. Porchai stated that the Democrat Party has a proposal to push for legislation in the form of a Super Act, aimed at restructuring and revising the entire legal framework (Reinvent and Rethink Thailand) towards becoming a One Stop Service system and repealing outdated laws.

Within the first 100 days, the Super Act would be promoted as a tool to repeal or amend laws that do not align with the current context concretely.

Meanwhile, Ms. Piangporn indicated that, within the framework of public sector reform, the People Party emphasizes the importance of improving laws, believing that the public sector should take on three main roles: 1) to be a partner with various sectors, 2) to act as a facilitator and coordinator, and 3) to serve as an agency to “guillotine” outdated laws.

Additionally, there is a need to reform the working system of the public sector, address existing structural problems, unlock obstacles, and promote collaboration across all sectors, rather than fragmented working.

Mr. Chaturon stated that the Pheu Thai Party proposes to establish a special working group to gather diverse opinions from the private sector and other sectors comprehensively, in order to analyze problems systematically, reduce discretionary power of state officials, and use international standards as a framework for policy formulation.

Simultaneously, Thailand must prioritize designing a system to prevent economic monopolies and create strong protective mechanisms to guard against issues of gray capital and economic distortion.

In conclusion, Mr. Kriangkrai remarked that "this forum is extremely serious, as the future of the country lies in the hands of all of us. It is necessary to rely on collaboration from all sectors.

On behalf of the JorPorRor, today we agree that we want everyone to survive, and the country must survive. It is time for Thailand to undergo significant change under the concept of Reinvent Thailand.

Corruption is a malignant cancer of the nation that must be urgently addressed for the country to move forward and develop sustainably.

We sincerely hope that Reinvent Thailand will not be the responsibility of any one party, but the duty of everyone— citizens, political parties, and all sectors of society.
