On Wednesday, January 28, 2026, Mr. Surapong Paisitpatanapong, Advisor to the Chairman and Spokesperson of the Automotive Industry Group of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), revealed the production, sales, and export figures for cars and motorcycles for December 2025, indicating that the Thai automotive industry shows clear signs of recovery.
In 2025, a total of 1,455,569 cars were produced, exceeding the planned target. The production of electric vehicles (EVs) saw remarkable growth, while domestic car sales in December increased by over 39%, reaching the highest level in almost three years, reflecting the gradually returning market confidence.
For 2026, FTI targets to produce 1.5 million cars and 2 million motorcycles, anticipating that support from declining interest rates, foreign investments, and the expansion of the EV market will drive the continuous growth of the Thai automotive industry.
Production
The total number of cars produced in December 2025 was 113,855 units, a decrease of 12.57% from November 2025 but an increase of 8.56% from December 2024 due to the production of electric vehicles.
The importation of electric vehicles under support measures resulted in the production of 10,714 electric passenger cars, up 794.32%, for export and domestic sale. Out of this, 86,194 units were produced for export, a 28.26% increase, accounting for 75.71%, while only 27,661 units were produced for domestic sale, down 26.58%, making up just 24.29%.
The total number of cars produced from January to December 2025 was 1,455,569 units, down 0.91% from January to December 2024, but exceeding the target of 1,450,000 units by 5,569 units or 0.38%.
In December 2025, 45,859 passenger cars were produced, a rise of 18.35% from December 2024, divided as follows:
