30%FTI Emphasizes! The Importance of MiT Certification by the Government, Recommending a Usage Increase of No Less than 30%

On January 21, 2026, FTI President Kriengkrai Theeranukul emphasized the necessity of increasing the use of Made in Thailand (MiT) products to at least 30% in public procurement to support local manufacturers facing competition from foreign goods and transshipment issues.

Made in Thailand (MiT)

On January 21, 2026, Mr. Kriangkrai Tiennukul, Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), together with Ms. Petcharat Ekkasangkul, Vice Chairman of FTI and Chairperson of the MiT Oversight Committee, announced at the Industrial Confidence Index event for December at the Federation of Thai Industries.

Mr. Kriangkrai expressed gratitude to several political parties that have recognized and pushed for the promotion of the use of domestically produced goods (Made in Thailand: MiT) as a key campaign policy. This is essential as the Thai industrial sector is currently facing an influx of cheap products from abroad, as well as the issue of product origin fraud (Transshipment), which severely impacts Thai entrepreneurs and the domestic supply chain.

Mr. Kriangkrai stated that if the MiT initiative is effectively implemented under the new government, it will be a crucial mechanism for strengthening the Thai industrial sector. FTI has continuously urged the government to set the usage proportion of MiT products at no less than 30% in public procurement projects to stimulate demand for Thai goods within the economy.

The MiT certification plays a significant role in public procurement according to the Ministry of Commerce regulations concerning procurement methods, giving an advantage to bidders using domestically produced materials certified with the MiT mark from FTI, allowing a price preference of up to 5% over other bidders. This certification currently enjoys high confidence from government agencies, and each fiscal year sees support for MiT products exceed one hundred billion baht.

Ms. Petcharat further stated that “FTI places great importance on the regulation of goods, enhancing the rigor in issuing MiT certifications to protect the rights of compliant Thai entrepreneurs. We have amended FTI regulation No. 34 (revised No. 2) B.E. 2568, prohibiting the importation of the same SKU for MiT certification requests, along with a ban on removing, altering, or changing the list of MiT products in cases of reasonable doubt. FTI reserves the right to review or revoke certifications. If revoked, the SKU will be permanently suspended and the company will not be entitled to request certification for any products for a period of 2 years.”

Additionally, FTI has enhanced and developed the MiT certification verification system to ensure maximum modernity and credibility, enabling buyers or related agencies to verify the authenticity of documents independently 24/7 through two main channels: scanning the QR Code present on the certificate, linking to FTI's central database to display the latest status, or visiting the website www.mit.fti.or.th, specifying the certificate number or company name to verify product information and the expiration date of the certificate. This is aimed at preventing damage from the use of counterfeit documents. If any infringement or misconduct is discovered, reports can be made to FTI, which will take legal action to uphold the standards of the Made in Thailand (MiT) certification.
