On July 21, 2026, Mrs. Pimjai Leeissaranukul, Chairperson of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), along with the management team of FTI, welcomed the executives from the Defense Industry Association (DIA), led by Air Chief Marshal Manat Wongwat, to congratulate Mrs. Pimjai Leeissaranukul on her appointment as the Chairperson of FTI for the term 2026–2028 and to discuss strategies for driving the security industry at FTI.

The management team of FTI that attended included:

- Mr. Isaret Rattanadilok na Phuket, Vice Chairman of FTI, and Registrar and Member Complaint Officer

- Mr. Suwatch Supakarn-dejakul, Vice Chairman of FTI, Office of the Chairperson

- Mr. Teerapol Tirasin, Vice Chairman of FTI, Office of the Chairperson

- Mr. Somboon Piti-rangsrit, Vice Chairman of FTI, Office of the Chairperson

- Mrs. Kanit Muangkrajang, Vice Chairman of FTI, and Chairperson of the Industry Standards and Competitiveness Subcommittee

- Mr. Bunjara Uudomying, Vice Chairman of FTI, and Chairperson of the Innovation Institute for Industry

- Dr. Nawarat Songwasitchai, Vice Chairman of FTI, Office of the Chairperson

- Mr. Warawut Navasridhkul, Vice Chairman of FTI, Office of the Chairperson

- Mr. Supachai Sukpisarn, Executive Board Member of FTI.

- Dr. Somsit Munsathaan, Chairperson of the Defense Industry Group

In the meeting, FTI presented its vision and strategies for organizational development under the concept "The New Chapter of Thai Industry: Empowering Growth with 5I" which includes five key strategies: Intelligent Industry to drive towards smart industry with digital and AI, Innovation & Creative Industry to promote innovation and creative industries for value addition, International Alliance & Network to expand international alliances and networks, Industrial Infrastructure Reform to restructure industrial infrastructure to enhance competitiveness, and Inclusive Sustainability to transform industries for balanced, inclusive, and sustainable growth.

The Defense Industry Association presented five main approaches for self-reliance in security, including upgrading general industry to the security industry, engaging the private sector to jointly produce dual-use products, setting target innovations related to weapons, ammunition, naval vessels, and drones, establishing standards for military equipment, and building investor confidence through the Offset mechanism.

Additionally, there were discussions regarding the Made in Thailand (MiT) products and the domestic procurement approach to support Thai entrepreneurs' products and services to attain certification and gain better access to government procurements, which will be a crucial mechanism for strengthening the domestic defense industry supply chain.

In this regard, FTI is open to receiving suggestions from DIA for consideration in order to join forces to drive the defense industry towards strong, sustainable, and self-reliant growth.
