On Friday, October 17, 2025, Mr. Nava Chantanasurakhan, Vice Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), acting on behalf of Mr. Kriangkrai Thiennukul, FTI Chairman, along with FTI executives, led a media delegation to visit the factory of BYD Auto (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (BYD), a global leader in electric vehicle (EV) technology, located at WHA Industrial Estate Rayong 36, Nikhom Phatthana District, Rayong Province.

This visit aimed to exchange views on the development of the electric vehicle industry, promote green technology, and create cooperation to drive Thailand's economy towards a sustainable New S-Curve economic structure. It reflects the role of the Thai industrial sector in supporting the transition from traditional industries to an economy driven by innovation and clean technology, particularly in the electric vehicle industry, which is one of the targeted industries (S-Curve Industries) under government policy, to lay the foundation for a low-carbon economy and enhance the country's long-term competitiveness.

Mr. Nava Chantanasurakhan, Vice Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) and Head of Corporate Communications, stated, “The visit to the BYD factory today is more than just learning from a global leader in electric vehicles (EV). It also reflects FTI's policy to look forward together towards elevating traditional industries to the industries of the future, focusing on investing in clean technology, developing workforce skills, and creating an industrial ecosystem in line with the country's sustainability objectives, which is a key mechanism for driving the Thai economy into a tangible New S-Curve. This is to enable Thailand to compete on the global stage and become the EV production hub of the ASEAN region.”

The collaboration between FTI and BYD represents a significant step in pushing Thailand's EV industry to international levels, while supporting the transition to a stable, sustainable, and competitive green economy on the global stage.

On this occasion, BYD Auto (Thailand) Co., Ltd., led by Mr. Xiao Haiping, Director of Administration at the BYD Group, welcomed the visiting delegation and presented an overview of the business, the vision for developing the EV industry in Thailand, and promoting the employment of Thai workers, enhancing workforce skills and long-term investment to support government policies for reducing carbon emissions. “Our company feels tremendously honored to welcome the executives from the Federation of Thai Industries. This visit reflects our shared vision to elevate the Thai electric vehicle industry. BYD does not see Thailand merely as a manufacturing base but as a strategic partner in driving towards a clean energy future. Therefore, we are committed to supporting the government's new economic policies, both in pushing targeted industries (New S-Curve) and in creating a low-carbon economy to enhance Thailand's potential as a significant electric vehicle hub in the ASEAN region.”

Additionally, the executives of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) and the media delegation visited the production processes within the factory, which consists of three main sections including:

1. Assembly Plant, which is the main production center for electric vehicles of BYD in Thailand, featuring state-of-the-art automation and flexible production line design that can accommodate the production of various vehicle models for both domestic and international markets, focusing on strict quality control processes at every stage to deliver products that meet international standards.

2. Battery Plant leverages lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery technology, which is highly safe, environmentally friendly, and offers a long lifespan, serving as a crucial component in enhancing the competitiveness of domestically produced EV products. This factory also has plans to expand investment in research and development to improve efficiency and support diverse future applications.

3. Welding Shop employs high-precision automated welding robots and real-time quality inspection systems to ensure strong and safe vehicle structures. The use of this automation technology also helps reduce waste from the production process and is in line with international environmental standards.

This visit to the BYD factory reflects Thailand's commitment to developing high-potential targeted industries, particularly electric vehicles, which not only promotes economic growth but also aligns with sustainability goals and the aspiration to be the EV production hub of ASEAN.
