เมื่อวันที่ 15 กันยายน 2568 นายเวทิต โชควัฒนา รองประธานสภาอุตสาหกรรมแห่งประเทศไทย (ส.อ.ท.) ในฐานะผู้แทนนายเกรียงไกร เธียรนุกุล ประธาน ส.อ.ท. และประธานสภาธุรกิจ GMS วาระปี 2567–2569 ทำหน้าที่เป็นประธานการประชุมคณะกรรมการสภาธุรกิจ GMS ครั้งที่ 2 ประจำปี 2568 (The 2nd GMS Business Council Board of Directors’ Meeting 2025) ซึ่งจัดขึ้นผ่านระบบการประชุมทางไกล
ในการนี้ มีผู้แทนจากหอการค้าและสภาอุตสาหกรรมของประเทศกัมพูชา สปป.ลาว เมียนมา เวียดนาม และสถาบันความร่วมมือเพื่อพัฒนาเศรษฐกิจลุ่มน้ำโขง (Mekong Institute) เข้าร่วมประชุม
ประเด็นสำคัญจากการประชุม
1. การขับเคลื่อนกลไกสำนักงานเลขานุการ: ที่ประชุมมีมติให้คณะกรรมการร่วมภาคเอกชน 3 สถาบัน (กกร. : JSCCIB) ของประเทศไทย ทำหน้าที่เป็นสำนักงานเลขานุการฝ่ายปฏิบัติการ (Operational Secretariat) เพื่อเสริมสร้างประสิทธิภาพการบริหารจัดการ
2. การเตรียมจัดงาน GMS Business Forum 2025: ประเทศไทยได้รับเกียรติเป็นเจ้าภาพจัดงานในวันที่ 27 พฤศจิกายน 2568 ณ โรงแรมแชงกรี-ลา กรุงเทพฯ ภายใต้หัวข้อ “GMS Opportunities and Challenges under the Changing Economic Landscape” โดยคาดว่าจะมีผู้เข้าร่วมกว่า 250 คน จากทั้งภาครัฐและภาคเอกชนในภูมิภาค
3. ข้อเสนอแนะเพื่อการพัฒนาภายในภูมิภาค GMS
• Sustainability: มุ่งเน้นการดำเนินงาน “Greening the Supply Chain” และการส่งเสริมเศรษฐกิจสีเขียว ร่วมกับ Mekong Institute และพันธมิตรระหว่างประเทศ
• Connectivity: เน้นการพัฒนาการเชื่อมต่อทั้งทางกายภาพและดิจิทัล รวมถึงการอำนวยความสะดวกทางการค้าผ่านเส้นทางรถไฟ สปป.ลาว–จีน–ไทย
ทั้งนี้ สภาธุรกิจ GMS มุ่งมั่นเป็นกลไกสำคัญในการเสริมสร้างความยืดหยุ่นและเสถียรภาพทางเศรษฐกิจของภูมิภาค ท่ามกลางความท้าทายในระดับโลก เพื่อขับเคลื่อนการเติบโตอย่างยั่งยืนของประเทศสมาชิก
On September 15, 2025, Mr. Wetith Chokwatana, Vice Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), representing Mr. Kriangkrai Theeranukul, Chairman of FTI and Chair of the GMS Business Council for the 2024–2026 term, presided over the 2nd meeting of the GMS Business Council Board of Directors for 2025 (The 2nd GMS Business Council Board of Directors’ Meeting 2025), which was conducted via a remote meeting system.
This meeting was attended by representatives from the Chambers of Commerce and Industry Councils of Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam, and the Mekong Institute.
Key issues discussed during the meeting
1. Driving the Secretariat Mechanism: The meeting decided that the Joint Private Sector Committee of three institutions (JSCCIB) in Thailand would serve as the Operational Secretariat to enhance management efficiency.
2. Preparation for the GMS Business Forum 2025: Thailand has the honor of hosting the event on November 27, 2025, at the Shangri-La Hotel in Bangkok under the theme “GMS Opportunities and Challenges under the Changing Economic Landscape.” It is expected to attract over 250 participants from both public and private sectors in the region.
3. Recommendations for Development within the GMS Region
• Sustainability: Focus on initiatives for “Greening the Supply Chain” and promoting a green economy in collaboration with the Mekong Institute and international partners.
• Connectivity: Emphasis on developing both physical and digital connectivity, including trade facilitation through the Laos-China-Thailand railway.
The GMS Business Council is committed to being a crucial mechanism for enhancing economic resilience and stability in the region amidst global challenges, driving sustainable growth for member countries.
