On September 3, 2025, Mr. Suwan Pongsaeng, Vice Chairman of the Biotechnology Industry Group of the Federation of Thai Industries  (FTI), in his capacity as Chairman of the 6th BIOTEC FTI Forum, which is part of Thailand Lab International 2025, had the honor of welcoming Mr. Khosit Suvinijjit, Advisor to the Minister of Public Health, along with Mr. Suchin Wajakit, Deputy Governor of Samut Prakan Province. The event was officially opened by Mr. Kriangkrai Theeranukul, President of the FTI, alongside Mr. Isares Ratandilok na Phuket, and Ms. Pimjai Leeissaranukul, Vice Presidents of the FTI, and Dr. Nattapasut Phattrirasinsiri, Chairman of the Biotechnology Industry Group of the Federation of Thai Industries  at Conference Room A, Hall 104, BITEC Bangna.

The forum received support and collaboration from the Ministry of Public Health, the National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology, the National Nanotechnology Center, the Biotechnology Association of Thailand, VNU Exhibitions Asia Pacific Co., Ltd., and partners. The primary objective is to enhance knowledge, understanding, and open new perspectives regarding biotechnology and future economic growth trends.

Biotechnology is rapidly becoming one of the key industries driving Thailand's economy, as the government has designated it as one of the new S-Curve target industries aimed at enhancing the country's sustainable competitive capacity.

Mr. Kriangkrai Theeranukul, President of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), stated that the FTI has a steadfast goal to propel the country with "First Industries" (upgrading existing industries) and "Next-Gen Industries" (creating new industries) by focusing on the application of innovation and technology for sustainable growth. The main policies for acceleration are "4 GO": Go Digital & AI, Go Innovation, Go Global, and Go Green, along with various tangible initiatives, such as establishing health and beauty industry clusters to foster collaboration with the government and promoting 8 target biotechnology products utilizing the country's biodiversity as a foundation.

Mr. Khosit Suvinijjit, Advisor to the Minister of Public Health, indicated that Thailand possesses strengths in biodiversity, which is a significant "natural asset." If leveraged with research and innovation, it can create distinctiveness and improve the country's competitive capabilities in the long term. Investment in this industry is a crucial response to four global challenges: food security, health security, clean energy and sustainability, and caring for the aging society. Therefore, the development of biotechnology is not just about "building an economy" but about "creating a future" for Thai society.

Dr. Nattapasut Phattrirasinsiri, Chairman of the Biotechnology Industry Group of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), welcomed executives from both the public and private sectors, stating that the biotechnology industry in Thailand is one of the most important strategic industries today as it relates to the economy, society, environment, and serves as a foundation for new development models, such as the BCG Economy Model (Bio–Circular–Green), which the government is currently promoting. The biotechnology industry group supports the bioeconomy as a New Growth Engine to enhance Thailand's competitive capacity in the future.

The event featured discussions focusing on integrating knowledge from various disciplines, including biological sciences, information technology, and new innovations to create a sustainable and robust bio-economy. For instance, Disruptive Herbal Technologies for the Future of Pet Care emphasizes the incorporation of new technologies and innovations to develop herbal products for pets in a manner that transcends traditional approaches, creating scientifically validated and effective products.

The 6th BIOTEC FTI Forum serves as a platform to bridge knowledge to practical applications and fosters collaboration among researchers, the industry, and the government to jointly drive Thailand toward stability, prosperity, and sustainability by utilizing biotechnology as the "new engine" of the most powerful era.
