On Wednesday, July 9, 2025, Mr. Kriangkrai Theeranukul, President of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), was honored to be a speaker at the Super Executive Business Management Course with Law for Organizational Leaders (Super LBA) on the topic "Opportunities for Thai Businesses in the Digital Era: Barriers and Challenges,” organized by the Pridi Banomyong International College of Business at Dhurakij Pundit University in the Sanom Suthipithak Conference Room.
In his lecture, Mr. Kriangkrai highlighted that Thai businesses are facing both opportunities and challenges due to global changes, such as climate crises, trade wars, and technological advancements, particularly the emergence of AI and Big Data, which play a vital role in enhancing efficiency, reducing costs, and fostering innovation in the industrial sector.
Thailand is well-prepared in various aspects, including digital infrastructure, 5G data centers, its strategic position connecting ASEAN and China, as well as skilled labor and investment incentives, enabling it to effectively support new industries.
In 2023, the market value of Thailand's digital services reached 560 billion baht, and it is expected that the digital economy will grow to 10% of GDP by 2025. Meanwhile, the applications for investment promotions in the digital industry in early 2025 increased by 444% year-on-year. However, significant obstacles include high technology costs, legal limitations, a shortage of skilled digital labor, digital inequality, cyber security risks, and the unethical use of technology.
Therefore, the adaptation of the business sector should focus on developing human resources, creating domestic platforms, utilizing technology appropriately, and advancing the transition to a green economy to maintain competitiveness and achieve sustainable growth in the digital global arena.
