📍 “Awakening the Potential of Thai Products and Economy with MiT” FTI Partners with the Ministry of Finance to Promote Thai Goods at FTI Expo 2025
On Wednesday, February 12, 2025, the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) and the Ministry of Finance organized the event “Awakening the Potential of Thai Products and Economy with MiT” as part of the FTI Expo 2025, a showcase of Thailand's industrial capabilities for sustainable future, aimed at promoting Made in Thailand (MiT) products and supporting Thai entrepreneurs to compete in both domestic and international markets at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center.
During the event, awards were presented to 10 government agencies that supported the procurement of MiT products through e-bidding the most, as well as 2 agencies that play a vital role in promoting the growth of Thai products. The event was led by Mr. Pichai Chunhawan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, who presided over the ceremony and presented the awards. Mr. Kriangkrai Theeranukul, Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries, spoke about the initiative to support domestically produced products amid the challenges faced by Thai entrepreneurs in a volatile economic environment, and opened the discussion forum “Awakening the Potential of Thai Products and Economy with MiT,” led by Ms. Pecharat Aeksangkul, Vice Chairperson of the Federation of Thai Industries and Chairperson of the Committee on Monitoring the Guidelines and Conditions for Certification and Issuance of the Made in Thailand (MiT) Label, with panelists from the Royal Irrigation Department, the Steel Industry Group, and leading Thai product manufacturers participating in the discussion.
Mr. Pichai Chunhawan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, stated in the opening address and on the promotion of the use of Made in Thailand products by the government that “FTI Expo 2025 is an important platform to showcase the capabilities of the Thai industrial sector, especially the Made in Thailand (MiT) project, which is one of the key mechanisms of the government to stimulate the domestic economy. Supporting Thai products through government procurement will help reduce dependence on imported goods, create opportunities for Thai entrepreneurs, and distribute income to citizens at all levels.”
Mr. Kriangkrai Theeranukul, Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), stated that “The Federation of Thai Industries drives the Made in Thailand or MiT project, which is another significant effort to support Thai entrepreneurs, increasing their access to government procurement while also reinforcing confidence in the global market. It is expected that if the government and private sectors collaborate on this drive, particularly by increasing government procurement, such as encouraging the private sector to purchase MiT products and providing tax and cost benefits for exporting MiT products, it will play a crucial role in stimulating the country’s GDP growth, creating jobs and income for SMEs, and importantly, it will enhance the circulation of the domestic economy and elevate the competitiveness of the Thai industrial sector going forward.”
Ms. Pecharat Aeksangkul, Vice Chairperson of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) and Chairperson of the MiT Guidelines Monitoring Committee, revealed that “Currently, there are over 5,000 registered MiT operators covering more than 60,000 product items. The categories with the most certified products include construction equipment, electrical and electronic goods, steel, air conditioning units, and cement. Additionally, the MiT project also helps circulate funds into the Thai economy through government procurement.”
The government agencies with the highest proportion of e-bidding for MiT procurement include 1. Royal Irrigation Department 2. Provincial Electricity Authority 3. Metropolitan Electricity Authority 4. Metropolitan Waterworks Authority 5. Royal Thai Army 6. Department of Highways 7. Department of Groundwater Resources 8. Provincial Waterworks Authority 9.
