On October 14, 2026, the FTI delegation participated in the Roundtable Session with International Business Chambers, a platform for networking and exchanging views among representatives of international business organizations, with Dato’ Hasan Azhari Haji Idris, Chief Executive Officer of Invest Selangor Berhad, welcoming the attendees.
Additionally, they took part in the Selangor ASEAN Business Conference (SABC 2026), which aims to enhance ASEAN's competitiveness through the development of youth and new business leaders, featuring discussions on topics such as "Converting ASEAN’s Youth Dividend into Competitive Advantage" and "Building an Ecosystem for ASEAN’s Next Generation of Leaders" to exchange perspectives on labor skill development, promotion of innovation and entrepreneurship, as well as the establishment of a business ecosystem conducive to regional growth.
Subsequently, on October 15, 2026, the FTI delegation participated in the Selangor Investment Forum (SIF 2026), which served as a platform to present the potential and investment opportunities in the state of Selangor while gaining insights into the directions for economic development and key investment projects, including infrastructure development for rail systems, government agency investment projects, and the promotion of a green economy.
In the area of logistics, the FTI delegation discussed with the Federation of Malaysian Freight Forwarders (FMFF) to enhance cooperation in international freight transport and supply chain connectivity. Both parties exchanged views on issues related to customs procedures, data exchange between agencies, and the development of automated systems at border checkpoints to facilitate and reduce cross-border transport costs.
Furthermore, discussions were held on ways to connect the logistics service networks of Malaysia with FTI members to promote matchmaking, business pairing, and access to potential transportation partners, while also exchanging ideas on the establishment of a cooperation framework between relevant organizations, including coordinating a visit of Malaysian representatives to FTI for further discussions and advancement of cooperation in the future.
At the same time, the FTI delegation met with Ms. Kanit Nattawongkasem, Director of the Office of International Trade Promotion (OTC) in Kuala Lumpur, to exchange information on the economic, trade, and investment situation between Thailand and Malaysia, as well as explore ways to support Thai entrepreneurs in expanding markets and enhancing competitiveness. Discussions included opportunities to expand the market for Thai products in the food and beverage, health and beauty, cosmetics, and skincare sectors, as well as challenges related to standards and halal certification, especially the requirements of JAKIM and issues of double inspection that may increase burdens and affect the entry of Thai entrepreneurs into the market.
Another important topic was the opportunity to expand markets to East Malaysia, particularly in the states of Sabah and Sarawak, as well as Brunei, which are potential markets for Thai products but still face challenges in terms of costs and transport routes.
As a result, both parties exchanged ideas to promote business matching, connect networks of entrepreneurs and trade partners, and coordinate information on product standards and trade obstacles, to support the effective expansion of Thai products in Malaysia and the region.
Through participation in this event and discussions, FTI aims to serve as a bridge connecting the Thai industrial sector with business partners in ASEAN, utilizing the network and cooperation topics derived from this initiative to create business opportunities for FTI members, including access to partners and logistics service providers in Malaysia, business matching, and expanding the market for Thai products, particularly in the food, health and beauty sectors, as well as seeking opportunities in the East Malaysia and Brunei markets to link Thai entrepreneurs into regional trade and supply chain networks while enhancing the competitiveness of the Thai industry in the long term.
