The Office of the National Science, Research and Innovation Policy (NSTDA) has partnered with nine funding management units and associated organizations in the Science, Research and Innovation System (SRI) to strengthen collaboration with the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), the Thai Chamber of Commerce, and the Chamber of Commerce of Thailand in announcing the upcoming event “TRIUP FAIR 2024” scheduled to take place from September 24-26, 2024 at Royal Paragon Hall, 5th Floor, Siam Paragon.

This event will serve as a One Stop Service, representing a significant collaboration among various agencies that provide comprehensive services for the private sector, including research grants, loans for investment expansion, testing analysis units, certification bodies, business development units, marketing promotion agencies for both domestic and international markets, as well as various public communication channels.

This event will serve as a One Stop Service, representing a significant collaboration among various agencies under five ministries: the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, the Ministry of Industry, the Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Public Health, and the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives. The event aims to provide comprehensive services for the private sector, including research grants, loans for investment expansion, testing analysis units, certification bodies, business development units, marketing promotion agencies for both domestic and international markets, as well as various public communication channels. A support and coordination mechanism will be established across various agencies for three years, showcasing over 150 research and innovation projects that are ready for use, categorized into four themes: (1) Medicine and Health, (2) High-Value Agriculture and Food, (3) Net Zero Emission, and (4) Appropriate Technology. The event will also feature opportunities for business matching between research project owners and entrepreneurs and investors, providing business consultation services from over 50 government and private sector agencies, workshops and training sessions led by over 40 local and international experts, an audition activity to select research and innovation projects for participation in Shark Tank Thailand, as well as the sale of innovative products to stimulate the use of Thai research and innovation.

On this occasion, Professor Emeritus Dr. Siriruk Songsivilai, Chairman of the Science, Research and Innovation Promotion Committee (SRI), stated that the SRI has a policy aimed at driving key national issues to achieve targets within 2-3 years, requiring collaboration from the Federation of Thai Industries, the Thai Chamber of Commerce, and the Chamber of Commerce of Thailand, as well as other entities in the SRI system. This collaboration is essential in ensuring that research and innovation are effectively utilized and yield results that enhance the capabilities of the industrial sector, generate income, and improve the economic stability and quality of life of people in the country. Furthermore, with the establishment of the Research and Innovation Utilization Promotion Act, B.E. 2564 (2021) (Thailand Research and Innovation Utilization Promotion Act; TRIUP Act), the SRI has allocated budgetary resources to align the application of research and innovation with the intent of the law, amounting to over 2,100 million baht in FY 2024 and more than 2,500 million baht in FY 2025. Additionally, two main operational initiatives are being pushed forward: 1) compiling a list of Appropriate Technology, over 1,300 items have been compiled and matching has been successfully conducted; and 2) collating the number of Invention Disclosures, currently at 276 items submitted to funding providers. It is anticipated that this will lead to increased commercial and social utilization of research.

Mr. Kriangkrai Tiennukul, President of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), expressed that enhancing the Thai industrial sector for sustainable growth relies significantly on optimizing and applying research, technology, and innovation within industrial processes. This approach is crucial for improving productivity and quality while also reducing production time and costs, enabling the industrial sector to adapt to current situations and meet evolving consumer demands and market dynamics.

“I would like to thank NSTDA for honoring FTI as a key partner for the TRIUP FAIR 2024 event. I am confident that this event will provide an opportunity for entrepreneurs and the private sector to engage with usable research and innovation, stimulating the enhancement of the capabilities of the Thai industry through the application of research, technology, and innovation, thereby increasing the competitive capabilities of the Thai industrial sector. In addition to the collaboration on the TRIUP FAIR, FTI is also committed to advancing the 'Innovative Fund' project, a mechanism to support startups with skills, knowledge, and technological expertise to thrive domestically and compete internationally. This will connect innovative startups with SMEs in our member network that require innovation support for business development, promoting sustainable growth aligned with FTI's ONE FTI policy for the 2024-2026 period, which aims to strengthen the Thai industry for a more resilient Thailand,” Mr. Kriangkrai added.

Ms. Kobsuk Eamsuree, Executive Board Member of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, remarked that the Thai Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber of Commerce of Thailand are committed to driving and promoting the practical application of new research and innovation through collaboration with various organizations, including educational institutions, government agencies, and the private sector, to ensure actual usage. In addition, for the event “TRIUP FAIR 2024”, the Thai Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber of Commerce of Thailand, as part of the collaboration network, will engage in public outreach to invite members and networks, particularly young entrepreneurs from the Chamber of Commerce (YEC), to express their views and needs related to research, technology, and innovation. It is recognized that utilizing research and innovation not only enhances business competitiveness but also expands knowledge and technology for sustainable societal development. The Thai Chamber of Commerce and the Chamber of Commerce of Thailand have previously collaborated with YEC and members continuously to create positive transformations for the country and society as a whole.

Associate Professor Dr. Patmavadee Pochanukul, Director of the Office of the National Science, Research and Innovation Policy (NSTDA), stated that NSTDA, the Federation of Thai Industries, the Thai Chamber of Commerce, and the Chamber of Commerce of Thailand, along with associated agencies such as the Research Management Unit (PMU), universities, research institutions, and government agencies that support entrepreneurs, have jointly organized the TRIUP FAIR for the third consecutive year. This time, in addition to showcasing the capabilities of Thai research and innovation, the focus will also be on addressing challenges and reducing barriers to applying research and innovation to impact the economic and social landscape of the country.
